I envy you. I would give anyything to be able to move to a small town somewhere. I am so very ready to leave Ottawa. Unfortunatly, finances & family obligations keep me stuck here...at least for the foreseeable future.

I loved living in Manhattan, no cars and everything within walking distance. Of course today I couldn't do two-three miles in heels.

But I'm just as happy living two hours out, with bald eagles, red tailed hawks, fox, deer and mountain lion in back of me. Unfortunately we also have the occasional bear siting and those I object to. They steal the garbage cans and you never want to hit one.

Nope.

A beautiful, lush, peaceful forest surrounding orchards and vineyards and gardens and berry patches, lots of places to run/walk/ski, watching fireflies and the stars on a summer evening, work just an Internet connection away, the goods of the city within an hour's drive...

I'm good. I moved here for a reason.

Just 5 simple acres here and I found out I got feral hogs on the property. I do love watching the white-tail deer out of my backdoor though and working on my irises.

One thing I am noticing is that this seems to be dividing on age lines. I loved Manhattan when I was young. But at this point in life I prefer a slower pace.

I guess I just need a change in scenery for a while, it's not that country living can't be enjoyable, it's just that it's like being in a hot tub, relaxing and quiet, But I'm young...and restless, and have lived out here my entire life,so my hands are getting a pruney lol

Arpig I actually visited some one in Ottawa, course he turned out to be an ass..contrary to most Canadians I have met.

Des you can have Manhatten, while yes it was convenient that you could get anything in a two block area, which even I admit is handy dandy.
The not being able to see much sky, and the only green you see is in the little garden squares that change up the flower or foilage.  Where I lived it was a trek to central park and I just could get myself to go there alone. I much prefer living here with BP and poen, its a small town, the people are friendly, the neighbors wave, say hi and are very friendly.  Plus I can ajust walk out to see the Kennedy Space Center throwing things into space.  Although I got up at 5:15 to watch the launch and it was scrubbed....grumble.

MusicMystery

Okay I have to say Im a bit jealous, especially with the orchard and vegatable garden, nothing better than eating straight from the garden.
