Quick and easy gag, a whiffle golf ball and a string. Look in the camping dept. of your local everything store for a snakebite kit, can you say cupping? Toy dept. Balls that will fit your mouth, (Put inside a knee hi stocking, tie 2 knots, another quick ballgag) pingpong paddles, whiffle bats. Flyswats, dusters, DUCT TAPE!!! never forget that. Pet dept. dog collars, chew tows make interesting gags also, leashes, kennel cages. Small collars can be converted to cuffs. Hardwear dept. chain, rope, snap hooks, fishing weights, those hangers you get with the shirt, with the 2 clips on them. Any kind of clip, I got a couple of chip clips at Krogers, they were shaped like big red lips. Electrical tape, rubber bands, Those long handled shoe horns. Blades off a cieling fan for paddles. Zip ties, make sure you get good scissors or sid cutting pliers. Pliers, small c-clamps. Baby dosing syringes, cut off the small end, put the plunger in backwards, you got a new vacuum device. That's just off the top of my head. Use your imagination, anything can be a toy.

i love my snake bite kit!  best thing since sliced bread

LPslittleclip -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/3/2009 6:15:00 PM)

hobby stores are good as well. the wicker reeds are good in a bundle as a flogger, tie one end up or dip it in plastic tool dip . Then for added fun put rubber bands on it at the end to make it a thudy toy. our local group did a dollar store bdsm show and tell each person brought something cheap and fun, my favorite was the tiny clothespins from the scrap booking or Baby shower supply's. wicked little things. pet dept for chew toys that make great gags. i cant go in to any store and not see something that can be pervatible.
a pet silky brush is good for sensation play, large feathers are good as well. even cheap fire play can be done using shot glasses and bottle caps with alcohol soaked cotton balls( recommend getting a class from a experienced person). sure those hand crafted leather floggers are great but you don't need to spend a lot of money to have fun. so look around and be creative. oh when using saran wrap a synthetic duster is loads of fun. first it is a sensation and second it makes a static charge. neat huh.[:D]

*waves at clip*

stay safe

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/3/2009 10:40:51 PM)

You can get cheap rope at Wal-Mart
I have found that cat 5 cable can be a truly wonderful thing.
or take a lesson from college dorms and military barracks everywhere and grab a tube sock and a bar of soap *evil grin*

I personally have found that the toys you improvise can be much much better than the toys that you spend the shinies on
point is that in the right hands anything can be a fun toy :D

CuriousPuppy -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 7:53:57 AM)

Those rubber spatula's work well

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 9:10:13 AM)

yeah they do :D

so do the little twisty handles for blinds :D

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 10:40:46 AM)

Oh, I forgot my favourite (and now lost) plug---a dog toy shaped like a studded pacifier!!  I still cruise the dog toy aisles looking for it!  (yeah sure, most anal players couldn't handle it, but SOME could!)

masmiss -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 12:22:21 PM)

WOW.  I have got some great evil ideas from reading this thread.

Lockit -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 12:24:08 PM)

If you're at the dollar store... I found the cheap ace bandages make the best blind folds!  I love wrapping them around his head and whispering... hehe  I found my best little paddles there in the kitchen department and the toy department.  Plastic paddle balls.  I love the pet area, you never know what you will find there... from doggie/kitty bowls to leashes and collars.  Found locks and cable ties and all sorts of goodies.

For binding... thanks to an ex... I learned you could buy belting material and eyeletts to make any size belting you wanted to use with pad locks and hooks or without hooks and you can make collars too.  For about thirty or forty dollars, you can be set up for any binding job you want.  I have a thing for locks and the sounds they make.  That click is priceless. lol

I also like mirrors and walmart or kmart have door mirrors for about ten dollars.  Rabbit furr is also a fav of mine... anything soft or rough... like sandpaper.  Thrift stores are good searching spots too... have fun!

Heathen4 -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 1:09:18 PM)

Man you guys have corrupted me! I can't go shopping anymore without finding little sex toys everywhere. Thank you for your help! We're going to go through our inventory of newly found toys and then see what else we can get. Thank you all!

KneelforAnne -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 1:56:16 PM)

This thread so inspired me that I went to Goodwill today and couldn't STOP seeing naughty toys!

Bought the following:

Belts- One rope and one pleather, both were woven...unwoven...we'll see how they play! I'm thinking if I can keep them from unraveling all the way they could be great little floggers.

Paddles! For pingpong-- got two. I couldn't figure out how to explain just getting one. I don't have a drill, but I want to put holes in one, I think, eventually.

Little switchy things, I don't know what you call them... they were used for decor in the 80's-90's...different colors, thin little reed like things? I got a bundle of them and wrapped rubber bands around the end.

String seashells... think perhaps this could be a nasty little toy, but I'm not sure what to do with it. It's one of those things that is made of fishing line and seashells, to hold plants. At first I totally thought flogger, but looking closely the shells are sharp and I think they could actually cut. But we'll see!

Grand total: $13.74

Now, I wiped it all down with disinfectant wipes and bleach water, and I'd like to note that none of these things are going to be inserted anywhere.

The only thing I really want to do is spray paint the paddles, so that may up the total to $15 or $16.

Yay for cheap...mmm let's change that...inexpensive toys!

**edited because I forgot to add the seashell string thing**

ShaharThorne -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 2:09:37 PM)

We are proud in corruptting in...just have fun! [:D]

army101 -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 4:45:52 PM)

Cheap metal binder clips for the nips...careful they smart some real quick. Craft dept Wal look for different size wooden dowels nice long ones almost smart as much as a crop.

Check out any local feed store lots of cheap ropes as well as all types too. Plus in-expensive crops all types and sizes too.

AlexandraLynch -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 5:05:33 PM)

I found a really good one the other day....snare drum brushes!

MaamJay -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 7:27:06 PM)

Some great ideas here, knew lots already but always good to find some new ones!

Don't forget certain vegies in a condom can make great insertables ... carrots if you want a taper, zucchini if you don't! And don't let your eyes be bigger than ... [;)]

I cruised hair supplies depts too, lots of nifty little clips and clamps, often not too bitey, and you can make such pretty nipples that way! Some leave nice marks on the skin too. I found some little bumpy massagers that fit on finger tips too, lovely for sensation play.

I'm surprised no one's suggested a zipper ... string a load of clothes pegs together, put them all on in a line, leave them a little while then pull the string quickly or slowly for different sensations! Never underestimate cold power, a simple bread and butter knife that's been in a freezer for a while can feel, rather curiously, like a hot sharp blade on the skin (lovely mind fuck for a blindfolded sub).

Also in a horse supplies store, can buy cheap crops and get that lovely self-sticking bandage much cheaper than bondage tape. And it comes in a wide range of colours too though it may not be as re-usable as bondage tape.

One of My favourite "funishable" tasks for a sub is to fasten kitty collars with bells to wrists and ankles, make them move about on a task and give them a thwack whenever the bells ring! Also, don't forget that it's not all about the toys, turn everyday tasks into a fun opportunity. Try putting the groceries away with your hands tied behind your back. Or vacuuming, mopping the floor etc. Great amusement park for the Dominant [:D]

Wooden skewers have several possibilities. I took a full package and wrapped electrical tape at one end. Now it works as something to smack, scrape, and poke.

Be careful what you ask for on the forums, lol. We love corrupting the new folks! [:)]

- Another Dollar Store find- a bamboo back scratcher. As a few people on the forums (like me, for example) can confirm, those damned things hurt like a bitch, and leave little footprint shaped bruises when properly applied [:D]
- On rope floggers (one of my favourite toys), here is a great link to making your own for under $10:
http://www.pep-stl.org/~sir-raymonds-playthings/flogger-start.html
- Secondhand stores are awesome. A mid length leather skirt (hopefully with a broken zipper or messed up lining) has enough leather to make a nice flogger, once you cut out the zipper and remove the lining.
- (this one was posted on a previous thread, but I can't remember who the author was) Wal Mart has a thing that they seem to think is for hanging clothes in your car. It's really a nice, adjustable spreader bar for about $10
-Wal Mart also has a "professional-weight" ping pong paddle for about $6 that's quite a bit sturdier than the regular ones.
- Back to the Dollar Store- I have found 5' long stretchy velvet things (supposedly some kind of scarf) that make awesomely soft ties, a hard plastic spatula that never made it into my toybag (too stingy), hairbrushes, feather dusters, bungee cords (way owwie), collars with matching leashes, shower curtain liners (awesome for containing the mess from waxplay and such), small velvet bags (to keep small items in your toybag organized), loofah sponges for sensation play.... oh hell, the whole place is a pervert's playground [:D]

Anyone who says you can't do BDSM on a budget hasn't let their inner pervert loose in a Dollar Store, Wal Mart, thrift shop, or hardware store [:)]

ETA- the Dollar Store here has those glow in the dark necklace things in 3 packs. I bet several of them ("unhooked" with the ends taped together) would make an awesome one-time-use glow flogger for a "special occasion" [;)]

inquizitivesub -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 11:47:17 PM)

I hate to admit this--I bought a skirt last weekend...no that's not it---but the hanger it came on--has 2 nice clamps---my breast are just spaced enough.

GreedyTop -> RE: Make Shift Toys (6/4/2009 11:55:59 PM)

*cringe*  I hope they are rubber tipped LOL

eta:   erm, the clamps, not your breasts.... LOL

(what kind of bike is that?  I miss having a bike)
