Dark, I'll tell you why she's a freak show. You probably already know this, but ugly folks can't make it in the music business anymore. Some of my favorite singers of all time are Johnny Cash and George Jones (yes, I'm a hillbilly [:D]), but they are physically unattractive fellows. Not a chance in Hell would they get a record contract in Nashville now a days. I love Buddy Holly, but I can't imagine him doing anything but shows at county fairs now a days.

But truly talented folks could still get heard in the past regardless of their looks. I don't think that's true anymore, and it's sad. I haven't really followed this woman's story. I hate reality shows. But I'd say from what I've seen, that her looks or lack of looks is what has made so many people fascinated. It's a fucked up testemony to what our culture has become. We worship nothing but the superficial.

And if Susan Boyle looked like Brittany Spears she would have won. And Brittany Spears has looks and knows how to dance. B**ch can't sing at all. Really pathetic. Oh yeah, I FORGOT, she cannot act! lmao when the directors couldnt take her acting stupid anymore.

I agree 100% with you Slaveboy.

Rubbish.

RE the 'doesnt fame come with the package' whether it does or not does not excuse the comments people make. Hollie Steele who broke down on stage and got a second chance the British public were up in arms, grown adults proclaiming things like 'I hope she falls off the stage and breaks her legs, spoiled brat' thats right people she was 10. But I guess she was 'asking' for those comments too. Cynical cow. And while we are on the topic all women who wear short skirts are begging for it too arent they, I mean hey should know what to expect. [8|]

People wanted her to win because they saw an underdog.  That is embarressing as a human being to know people think like that

A lot of things "embarrass" me about how people think. Rooting for the underdog has never been one of them. There's sooooo much more to be embarrassed about[:D] I think it's a natural reaction for many (if not most) people to cheer on an "underdog," whatever they consider that to be. Who doesn't want to see a person triumph when maybe he/she hasn't had so many triumphs in his/her life? I agree that it's sad what has happened to Susan Boyle. She came out of obscurity and is now headed back there after having been run through the wringer and criticized from every angle. So much for this underdog[&o]

Rooting for the underdog is one thing, I didn't say that.  I am saying they saw an underdog and created her into an underdog because of her age and her looks?

~FR~

It was noted (by one of the other contestants interviewed in the article linked) that the contestants WERE warned about the adrenaline, and coming off of it (not unlike many people are warned of 'subdrop' after a particularly extensive session, it's the same thing). I would conjecture that she's been watched, and that's why they knew that she needed the rest *right* away, instead of trying to figure out what was going on.

Going to a clinic shouldn't be something to be ashamed of, especially after an experience like she has! Some people would have gone on a vacation... same problem, different treatment.

I hope she recovers quickly. I can't wait to hear more of her.

FR, after read thru

I had read this a few days before:

The Mail on Sunday said she had been been "comforted by psychiatrists" ahead of Saturday's final. "They have a whole army of doctors, psychiatrists and experts all available to any contestant at any time. They have all been taking great care of Susan," the paper quoted "Britain's Got Talent" judge Piers Morgan as saying.

I suspect that the army of 'helper people' employed by the show probably had as much or more to do with her being admitted to hospital as whatever state she might have been in . . . . . Not to mention that in show biz there is no such thing as 'bad publicity', it's all just 'free publicity' . . . . . . . & checking divas into medical care for 'hysteria' type stuff has a long tradition, lol . . . . It sounds like par for the course . .. . .

except now they don't get the 'free' orgasm from the doc for their "Hysteria" [:D]

Interesting diagnosis.  Feeling a "little anxious" is a far cry from GAD.  I've read nothing that states she suffers from an anxiety disorder of any kind.  What I've read is that she has some intellectual challenges based on a lack of oxygen as an infant.

Do YOU have Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

Yes actually I do. I'm fourth generation mood disorder and fairly knowledgable in them.

I'm guessing, as should have been apparent, that she suffers from this not from this article, but from the many others referring to her life and her difficulties. Hopefully she will now get whatever help she needs.
