I've just watch all 10 performances of the finalists on youtube.  And while I was hoping Ms. Boyle would win as a kind of "in your face, mature women DO have a place in the world", Diversity outperformed her, in my opinion.  To take a group of  men in such a wide age range, and have them perfom at that level, takes talent and dedication to their craft.  It's not a matter of one person being spot on to win, but ALL of them being so.

The competition was intense, and each deserves some type of entertainment contract.  Hollie Steele's perhaps in a few years, because it seems that she needs a bit of maturing to deal with the pressure of being in the limelight and performing for live audiences.  She has an incredible voice, and hope to hear her name on this side of the Atlantic in the future.  She reminds me alot of Charlotte Church.

edited to add.... I looked up chuffed after I posted.  And it means something different than I thought.  So, I am chuffed as well.

From thefreedictionary.com:

chuffed
Adjective

Informal
pleased or delighted: I suppose you're feeling pretty chuffed [origin unknown]

That is precisely why I did not want her to win. Had she been younger and prettier she wouldnt have got to the final. I think it is patronising to her and older women that everyone was so amazingly shocked

They are fantastic.  There was another dance group in the final 'Flawless'.  And they were wonderful also, but Diversity had the edge for me.  They had huge personality on top and their love and respect they had for each other was way cool.

The whole Susan Boyle thing was weird.  Typical press though - raise someone up only to tear them down again.

Diversity was AWESOME!!! I think everyone expected Susan Boyle to win just because of her being so un-star-like. She has now had her 15 minutes of fame and, I won't deny that she has a great voice, but I think the judges made the right choice.

Just an FYI though......don't be surprised if the Mods pull this thread. I posted virtually the same thing earlier today and it was pulled....for the simple reason that Diversity has UM's in the group.

If people checked their mail when posts get removed, they would know the correct reason rather than make untrue ones.

What does the winner of Britain's Got Talent get?  I know for America's Got Talent, a Vegas contract is included in the prize.  Personally, for the very young children who perform, I don't think the pressure of doing 2 shows a night in a Vegas show is a great thing.  Of course, someone that young hasn't won so it hasn't been an issue.

I think that all the contestants who make it to the finals on these shows can take things as far as they are willing to go.  What the show gives them is the exposure, getting their act out there for people to see.  So even if they don't win, there will be agents and producers who want to work with them, which is great.

As for the whole Susan Boyle thing....we live in a society where everyone is first expected to be beautiful and thin, THEN someone will determine if they have talent.  It's really a shameful commentary on our society.  Susan Boyle HAS talent.  Is she the greatest singer in the world?  Of course not.  Would she have gotten that far if she looked like say, Jennifer Aniston and sang like that?  Probably not.  And THAT is what is unfair.  Sometimes you have to wonder if for the singers, what would happen if we were only allowed to HEAR them sing without seeing them?  Would that change the voting?  For America's version, last year a guy won who was singing opera.  The two acts that came in 2nd and 3rd (honestly don't remember which place for each) were far more talented and far more marketable.  The one was a singer and he has a vocal quality and style that was unique.  The two guys from the inner city who were playing violins were out of this world and really deserved to win and they didn't.  I haven't heard anything about any of the acts (1st place either).  So what does that say about these shows as a whole?

~FR~

Susan was outperformed.

I still got tears in my eyes from her performance, but I was enraptured by Diversity's too. They deserved to win because (pure and simple) they were better.

Still can't wait for Susan to get a dealie or something :) I would love to hear her sing, it would be one of the few concerts I'd actually try to scrape money together for, and a CD I'd definitely buy. Her voice is a quality to it that you don't hear every day, plain and simple. Yes, it's relatively rough and (as I've said before) 'untrained' but... it's gorgeous.

I'm not normally a fashion maven but those outfits were ghastly and as for the dancing... yeah... it was good but nothing I haven't seen before.
