Hi!  Someone very near and dear to my heart recently won 1st runner up in Miss Gay Allentown.  She's beautiful, kind, and one of the nicest people you could ever meet, however, she's looking for sponsors for the Miss Gay Pennsylvania America Pageant.

If you would be interested in helping this lovely person out, please contact me on the other side of CM, and I'll give you her paypal info and link to her myspace, with her permission, so that her quest for the crown is as successful as possible!

Hopefully her  --->   [sm=iamqueen.gif][sm=iwin.gif]

Sheesh!! how much money does it take to enter a drag pageant anyway? isn't that sort of thing supposed to be a hobby that one finances oneself? Why on earth would you expect total strangers to pony up money for this person to enter a pageant?

I posted that as a favor to her.  Thank you for your interest.

Depends on the contest and how much they spend on the outfits. Some of the costumes can be very expensive. If your just doing local contests and such, I have never seen fund raising, but for national contests, it is not uncommon. As to asking strangers to donate.....can't hurt to ask, maybe you will hit someone who wants to help. You never know until you ask.

True enough. Wasn't there some girl a while back trying to raise money online for a boob job? I wonder if she ever got her new tits.

Sometimes support comes from very surprising places.

You know who you are... and she said thank you!

I seem to remember something about that but have no idea if she got them or not.

I totally may steal this idea as a way to get funds to visit the US if people actually end up donating money

personally, no.  I knew of him, and admire him for what he did for so many people.  I know you miss your friend, but so many others in the gay and drag communitites miss him as well.  Jim will be remembered for a long time.

Holy cow!!!

I never got involved with the drag events... but I did get him online. I knew him quite well.  He taught me how to throw a punch and to take a punch.

Small world.  Hard to beleive.  Incidentley, his house is up for sale... priced 20k less then it it worth. He always had the best of everything.

Yeah- I did not run the same circuit of people that he did.  The drag thing just isn't for me.    I like the muscle guys.

Ill tell you what- no one could win a fight like that guy.   The drag thing is not an interest of mine.  He liked it... and put alot of time and energy into it.   I hope the contests continue. He would want it that way.

I keep thinking he is going to call.  He always did call. So it is a change for sure.

I loved the way he could take a contract and find the one little loop hole and turn it into a national event. :-)

His typing so improved when he found the chatrooms.    Something about Jim.... he layed the best looking men in the area. I never figured out his tecknigue.

He used to want me to be the last voice he heard before he went to sleep. I still have his cat. I cant bare to part with it just yet.  Jenny understands... the cat will go up to Milton to live.  Just not right away.

The person that is looking for sponsors was at last month's pageant that was held near your area last month.  He was there as the reigning Miss Gay PA America's dresser/assistant.

Alot of people don't understand the attraction to drag, and drag pageantry.  Or the added expenses that incur at the state and national levels.

If you show up in Detroit, I will give ya 20 bucks towards your trip. If I get a job between now and then I might even give you more.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Drag Pageants and sponsors (5/31/2009 7:42:11 PM)

If I had the funds, I would of contribute to the cause. My drag 'sister' does shows in LA, formerly in Dallas and she would let me crash at her place when I was in Dallas. Boy, can she shop and I loved her wig collection.
