I have a passion for gardening. There is nothing like going out and preparing the soil, planting a seed, and tending to it. It is hard work going out into the hot sun pulling weeds, putting up with the biting insects. In the end, at harvest time, you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Hmm, an analogy? It keeps me out of trouble too.

Do you intend it as such?  Don't make us do all the work, explain.

Gardening.

John le Carre: The constant gardener/Great book. But a hard read.

Gardening, used in my family as balancing tool to very demanding jobs, that involved responsibility for other human beings and their welfare. Used by my grandpa to cope with his experiences as a minister in war, he spend some time in the second world as a protestant minister (or however you call it), was a soldier too, and lost his eye.

I am no gardener.

But, a good relationship is mutual gardening that is sure.

Gardening and self declared dominant gods and godesses, just another hybris.

More like a piece of music to me.  Labored over with great passion to get every detail just right.  A splendid unveiling and the joys of of those lovely chords for the rest of ones days whenever the moment is right for it.  Always available, never consumed, timeless.

We reap what we sow, perhaps?

Gardening is an analogy for millions of things.  This forum is for general discussion, but general BDSM discussion.  So are you wondering about gardening as a metaphor for a BDSM relationship?  Certainly the training/breaking of a sub/slave parallels gardening rather obviously.  We give them  a base to start from (fertile soil), agree to help them grow and evolve (plant the seed), and help them do so (tend to it).  We are obliged to 'weed out' the problem behaviors and suffer the 'bites' of their problems growing.  And in the end we reap their submission.  A beautiful, and rather tasty, lol, reward.

Is that what you were getting at?

my Master/Daddy often refers to me as His garden.

I love gardening but I am a sort of jump in and do it sort. I dont know much about planning like how some folks do. I admire that but I go more by the seat of my pants.

I once heard a tree is a template of the cosmos. The roots echo the top; "As above so below" that ol adage. It goes on and on and makes quite a bit of sense to me. I love trees and I love plants, flowers, herbs, vegetables. I love to see things grow.

It is my third garden this year so I am learning and a little less nervous and really love it. I love the labor, it doesnt feel like work. I am fascinated by gardening.

Especially since you could do that at dawn, or dusk - no hot sun, no biting insects. Hot sun, I send the girl out, with no clothes on. They like that shit.

Love is like a tune to me, too, but the daily relationship, the caring, the little messages, buying a special cheese, telling him, that i love him....and all the things he is doing for/to me are more like gardening to me.

Because a lot relationships i know, that started good, went wrong because the participants forgot to do the daily relationship work and gardening is sounding such a lot nicer.

The love to grow things goes into gardening. It is time to till the land and properly space the seeds. Daily I enter my garden watering and weeding it. Wisdom passed down from others has taught me to be patient for the plants to grow at their own speed. Sometimes the plant needs a little bit of help, so we protect it from insects who love to feed off it's leafs.

Patiently we enter our garden daily, observing and doing what is needed. The buds turn into veggies, and one morning I see a tiny pumpkin has sprung from it's blossom. Eventually the pumpkin has reached it's point to be picked. I take the pumpkin and carve a face in it. Add a candle to the inside, after the guts have been cleared out. The pumpkin now sits out on my porch as the children come to point with elation. They are happy to see a pleasant pumpkin greeting them at my door. Inside my house 2 small pumpkins are being puree to make pumpkin pie. Soon the house will smell so inviting, and my guest will be served pumpkin pie for desert, after they enjoyed a garden dinner. All the love placed in planting the seed is now enters their bodies offering them the ingredients to nourish their own inner garden.

Gardening, especially my vegetable when made will be an extension of my pagan beliefs and in particular my herb garden. gardening early morning and of course at appropriate times planting under a full moon is a labour of love. the rest is something I enjoy especially with the perfumes and the variety of members of the native parrot family visiting and singing to us often.. I am a great believer in the elder ways of calling the procreative forces on nature to a new bed ready to sow by copulating with a female naked on said vegie bed too..

You could take the analogy further...

If you carefully match up the plant and environment, less work needs to be done yet you still have a thriving and beautiful plant.

Sure, you can make a rose grow in the desert, but it'll take a lot more work and there'll be a higher risk for failure.

I guess I am not real deep today.  All I can think is... every garden needs some manroot.  It is either time for a better garden or a date.

Why the question mark?  You want an opinion?  O.k. ----
