MasterG2kTR -> Susan Boyle: Performs in the Semi-finals on BGT (5/26/2009 6:25:19 PM)

The plain jane siren Susan Boyle is back in her second perfomance on BGT she scores another hit performance. Simon Cowell even apologizes and bares his humility from her first performance. Enjoy!!

I hear the beginning was shakey..

LafayetteLady -> RE: Susan Boyle: Performs in the Semi-finals on BGT (5/26/2009 9:54:01 PM)

I found it on a nifty site called tvshack.net.  I wouldn't call the beginning really that shaky, but she gave a great big finish!  Simon seems to be a LOT nicer to his fellow Brits than he is to the kids over here on Idol.  Doesn't matter, I like him anyway, just sayin....

GreedyTop -> RE: Susan Boyle: Performs in the Semi-finals on BGT (5/26/2009 10:03:58 PM)

a bit shaky at the start, I agree... but when it came time to belt it out... WOW!!

I hope Susan wins but I think this performance wasn't nearly as good as her first.

I don't see all the fuss.
On a personal level I would much rather see Diversity win and perfom.  They are far more relevant that some lady, whom people keep on about being 'plain' looking who has a fairly good voice.  Imagination, diversity (well duh) and originality and something young people can aspire to.

Well, I just watched my first Susan Boyle link as well as the two links you provided for Diversity and frankly, I don't get it. As you said, she has a fairly good voice, but certainly not great and being plain isn't a reason to win a talent competition. No one is going to see you when you're on the radio and if I had been listen to that song from Cats, I'd have changed the station. Aside from that, I wasn't entertained. There was a young lady on American Idol named Fantasia Barino (sp?). Her voice was not the best in the competition, but she entertained like no one's business and went on to win her season. I want to be drawn in or moved, or touched.. something. Susan Boyle, frankly, rather bored me.

Diversity - they need to sharpen up a bit, but the creativity is all there. I loved the Chariots of Fire sequence. That totally rocked! Unlike Simon, I actually like the first performance better, but the second was good. I'm thinking they probably didn't have as much practice time with the second one but overall, if I had a vote (and I don't) Diversity would get it. Also, if they were in a show that I was on the fence about seeing and I knew they were going to perform in it, that would swing me to a yes.

Thanks for the links!

Exactly.  They are rough, but then they aren't professionals and that is what I like about them.  Plus I can see their act expanding much further.
I admit I feel a bit weirded out by people who seem to focus on the fact that Susan Boyle is so 'plain'.  It's being turned into a freak show.

Thanks for posting this.  My ums and I just watched it.  Truthfully, I expected something a little more impressive,  but man, she must have been so nervous though she didnt admit it. We are rooting for her!

~FR~

The beginning was real shaky... and just plain too high for her. It was obvious. Plus she was nervous. When she got her stride we got a brilliant glimmer of what had come before, so I do believe that's why she got to go on, further.

Also, I have to imagine that Simon, regardless of if she wins the competition, is going to 'take care' of her. He's going to find her work, I can feel it in my bones!

She wasn't simply shakey at the start, she was also slightly off pitch and reaching for the correct octave of her vocal range.  She wasn't as well prepared this time around as she was the first time, and the song - while credibly well done - wasn't as suited to her vocal talents as the operatic piece she did for the initial audition.

GreedyTop -> RE: Susan Boyle: Performs in the Semi-finals on BGT (5/28/2009 8:50:54 AM)

I agree, Rhi...  wrong vocal range, I think.   She does so much better (from what I've seen) in the 'belt it out and give it some OOMPH' stuff

BitaTruble -> RE: Susan Boyle: Performs in the Semi-finals on BGT (5/28/2009 9:47:26 AM)

I just watched the first song she did. (I guess I had watched the semi final song before) and thought it was so much better than what I saw previously. (Go figure, I was backwards.)

After watching that performance, I understand, more, the initial reaction. The initial song was very nicely done.

She has a face for radio.

Heh

Eh....I haven't given her a second thought. I don't get into those talent shows. I did hear on HLN today that she was overheard in a hotel cursing up a storm. Don't know the reason though or how accurate the report was.

colouredin -> RE: Susan Boyle: Performs in the Semi-finals on BGT (5/29/2009 6:44:48 AM)

Just want to agree with the.darkness because my absence means I havent done that in a while. Diversity all the way, I love the kid with the big afro.

Did no one else think that susan sang too quickly on memories?
