Scary ad so I listened and went out and bought loads of packets of the biscuits. Sadly the story of being made to eat them by the Panda on the ad didn't wash with Master and I got into trouble anyway. Sigh still I managed a couple of packets before he caught me.

Hahahaha!  If my pet gave me that as an excuse, "The panda on the radio made me do it.", I'd be laughing too hard to even consider punishing him.  Not to mention, having to give him credit for having the cojones to even try that as an excuse.

We have been accused recently (NZ) of gross cultural insensitivity by a Canadian Inui tourist. The reason being our marshmallows named Eskimos, they’ve been called that for the last 54 years. She said it was racially insulting, an insult to her people, both in terms of the name, which she said had racial overtones, and the shape which stereotyped her people as igloo dwellers. She also complained about our icecream Eskimo Pie.

She planned to make the Canadian Prime Minister and her grandfather aware of the lollies.

I guess the indigenous people here might get offended if the Canadians launch a range of lollies called “Horis” featuring tattooed Maori faces   

No offence to any Inui.

im wondering if the person that said it works at the same place i work.....i made mention about gambling the lines would be shorter on election day since so many were voting early, and she spun around and proceeded to tell me how "Her" people would have waited in line for weeks or months if need be, because of slavery and how badly they had been treated throughtout history.

folks find offense when theyre looking for it.....i just hope ya had ice cold milk with the oreos, and i hope ya ate em properly.

I don’t think they will. It has become a Kiwi tradition…lol. We consumed over 19 million of them. But one wonders what will be next? Parent groups complaining about jelly babies ginger groups getting heated up about gingerbread men and SubWay demanding Dom/mes submissives not to use the word sub?

It seems to me that people enjoy being victims and drama and make everything negative. It makes me shake my head in disgust. I bet those people talked about it and got all indignant for at least an hour and told at least 5 people.

Ahhh, now that might shed a little light on this subject.  If you're biracial son was standing outside with you, and they heard a remark about oreo's, it very well could have been you that the comment was made towards or against.  (that is, depending on what race your son is mixed with, but I am guessing they were guessing black and white, regardless)

The question of what constitutes discrimination was asked very well by an Australian TV show called The Gruen Transfer. Each week, an ad agency is given a brief to make a mock ad on a particular topic. Recently, an agency chose to tackle the brief, Fat Pride, by comparing 'fat chick' jokes to extremely offensive about blacks, jews and gays. The ad itself worth seeing and has provoked a lot of discussion here. Ultimately, the ad was deemed too controversial to broadcast on TV by it, and a discussion about it, can be found here:

No the son was in bed.

Spoke with my neighbor this morning and found out what had happened. The people walking up his driveway to their car were two black men and a white woman, with the oman walking between the men. One of the men heard me say oreo and thought I was making a racial comment about two black men with one white woman.

Well, I hope your neighbor told them they were barking up the wrong assumption.  People are oversensitive about so much, these days.  It goes beyond race, but you certainly proved race to be a factor.  I say we prescribe the world with Xanax!!  (just kidding, if anyone wants to reply telling me we don't need anymore dependant people in this world)

It is a shame that it isn't aired but yanno.. I can actually see some people totally missing the point with it.
