I must be evil, I laughed. And I agree with the passer-by, no excuse for holding up traffic for five hours. But that guy who pushed him could probably use some more of those pills for that "mental illness."

My first thought before finding out he was still alive was at least the family can claim his life insurance since he didn't commit suicide. Then i laughed.

A similar scenario takes place from time to time on the Wilson Bridge linking Virginia and Maryland. Traffic in an already highly congested area is brought to a standstill when jumpers decide to use the bridge for their purposes. The common refrain called in to local radio stations is "just push the person off and let's get traffic moving again already!!"

..the jumper thought he had problems? HA! now he has spinal cord injury. He is in for years of agony. I wonder if he sues the boom net for failing to be safe. OR the pusher! Jumping off a bridge is a dumb way to suicide. being that it was 5 hours- and in that time one has to pee and eat the guy was rather playing games. The pusher asumed that he would not be dropped by the act. ...and the pusher probably is a huge shareholder in Goldman Sacks!! -just sayn-

I don't know why it's "neccessary" to stop traffic in these situations. Haven't these people ever heard of "firearms?"

Okay I didn't laugh until he saluted after pushing him and it said he was on his way to get his pills for a mental illness. I think he waited for five hours too long and was just pushed over his edge. He was polite... gotta give him credit for that!

I think that this will put the fear of god in potential suicide jumpers everywhere. Perhaps a yellow and black sign on the bridge depicting a passer-by pushing off a jumper is required. ...starts writing a proposition for the November election... yours

I laughed, and still haven't even read the article! If you ever dealt with someone who had the constant whine "I'm going to kill myself if...." you eventually want to give them a hand. Personally, I applaud everyone who admitted that they laughed.

Damn right I laughed! Try pulling that in LA or NY sometime. You won't last 5 hours, nor will you survive. Someone will come by after being held up for about 30 minutes and knock you off the bridge with a bat.
