well this post might create some, but what the hell

ive  been wondering lately what others consider DRAMA

is it those bumps in life, that seem to throw you out of kilter
is it must see tv
is it having back and forths with other posters
is it misunderstandings
is it just not knowing when to shut your mouth
is it not dealing with issues in your life
is it getting bad news about your health
is it everyday life
is it finding out a family member is hospitalized
is it having friends others deem lowly
is it parenting..........cant go further with that one......dont want to get modded
is it stirring the pot so as to see what might happen
is it...........................

ya'll tell me  im curious

Drama is driving in NYC. I refuse. I now fly into Boston when I must go there and take the train to Manhattan. Seriously, trying to park and then walking 14 blocks back and forth to feed a meter is insane. It creates drama when your business lunch turns into the "let's chat after the bill" lunch.

VelvetCruelty -> RE: question about drama (5/21/2009 8:34:32 PM)

[sm=goodpost.gif]Drama is when you are being stalked by a crazy person from Hawaii that sends emails to people you know telling them all manner of bullshit and causing trouble for no reason other than they want what you have, and have been denied.

Your list, sounds mostly like regular life crap, and you know, having a cocktail and a chat with friends can usually make you feel better about alot of that.  Life is a pain in the ass, hopefully you have a handful of people that love and adore you no matter how deranged and weird and spastic you may seem to be.  Well, in my case anway! [:D]

Drama means the benefits are outweighed by the costs.

pahunkboy -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 2:33:09 AM)

drama is trying to balance my budget- after being kicked off of ebay, but then sneaking back on- and keeping track of the coins I ordered.

I getting tired of getting kicked off too!   I am on my 7th account,   but yeah- which coins were to come.  with silver rising- a seller might sell then not ship- and ok- on 20 oz I 'could" eventually  get my money back... but even then it is 5 days to make the transfer- paypal- and during the time span I miss a lower price.

fricken ebay doesnt even KNOW how much I supposedly owe them.  The pay by check screen takes me to a circular loop.    The each step therfe is like 2-3% fee.

so did I get all I paid for and if not- who was supposed to send it and what is the contact info.,

I think I am crazy.

Fitznicely -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 4:27:18 AM)

Drama is what you get when you piss a childish fucktard off for having your shit more together than them, which is about as difficult as making sure each breath in is followed by an out.

Kalista07 -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 5:20:25 AM)

Drama is.....well....what it is. It can only be a part of your life (relationship, work, friendships, etc) if you allow it to. My experience with drama is once i stopped thinking that i'm just an *innocent victim* to everyone else's crap, and realized that i actually have a part in every situation today.....the drama factor decreased significantly....
It's like many other negative things, if i don't acknowledge it, don't feed it, don't entertain it... it can not thrive or survive...Eventually it dies out and people learn (as I'm a firm believer that we teach  people how to treat us) to take that stuff else where.
Good luck,
Kali

Musicmystery -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 10:07:17 AM)

Well, obviously drama has a wider definition in the "for real" world, but in the context of a discussion board...

I use the term when a poster asks a "question" that is really a thinly veiled passive-aggressive attack or an opinion seeking validation that "I am right and s/he was wrong." No true discussion or understanding can take place--it's whining and/or public airing of personal grievances that need resolution by either serious, meaningful discussion with the other party or by growing up, getting over it and moving on. The poster, however, has no interest in such resolution, preferring to wallow in self-pity or self-righteousness.

Drama. Often goes with seeking attention.

OTKkindaGirl -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 10:20:13 AM)

Drama to me is; Getting yourself caught in an solid hamster wheel (as opposed to a wire one) , bitching about it the whole time, while dumping your shit in it and trying to keep from stepping in it, while it follows closely on your heels while you try to outrun it, and continue bitching about it without ever thinking about the simplest solution of jumping out of the damned thing!

**edited to add** i forgot the part where you try to drag all your friends and even strangers in to all your shit and bitching at them because their solutions just don't mesh in your pea sized brain.

That is the drama of life!!

stella41b -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 10:38:50 AM)

Drama is what you go to see in a theatre, cinema or watch on TV which isn't funny (or which isn't meant to be funny to separate it from those comedies which just aren't funny) where actors appear in roles playing different characters.

However drama in your life usually means melodrama where performances are usually live and performed by drama queens who have a tendency to overreact, jump to conclusions and turn a minor, insignificant, everyday sort of problem into a major life-threatening crisis. These performances usually require the active participation of an audience (namely you) who they try to get caught up in the hysteria and ovverreacting, causing you to jump to conclusions which turn your minor, insignificant, everyday sort of problems into a major life-threatening crisis blowing trivial details out of all proportions.

Well, if you're going to be specific, drama includes both tragedy and comedy. And yes, comedy is not synonymous with funny.

But I understand that wasn't the point of your post anyway. Just fussy about definitions.

Drakontos -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 11:13:48 AM)

Drama is when zaphira drops Master's drink, shatters the glass all over the floors, becomes so upset that she forgets that she is barefoot and runs to get a broom and cloth, and cut's her feet to ribbons, trailing blood all over her clean floors, and then gets upset again because she forgot that she was barefoot to begin with. *blush*

MsFlutter -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 11:14:29 AM)

Drama is a LOT of work and really mucks up your radar in any of its many forms. The sources include, but are not limited to, "snipers", "assassins" or passive-aggressive people.

Drama is also cultivated and perpetuated by individuals who lack practical coping skills, basic manners or those who consider everyf**king thing to be about them and about how they are ALWAYS right and nobody else has a clue what they are talking about and peace will not return to the village until there is blood ALL over the floor - or you knock the drama queen unconscious with a tranquilizer gun.

Life crap is life crap. Unavoidable. Drama, however, can be avoidable and ignore-able and even fixable. Everyone we know is the audience of our lives. We each have to decide who is healthy enough to sit in the front row.

This is Drakontos

NO, drama is when we have to go to the ER more than once in the same night because zaphira has done this more than once, in the same day.

To my thinking, drama is nothing more than a persons need to be 'center stage'; they go out of their way to make sure all attention is on them. Good, bad; it does not matter as long as all attention is on them.

littlewonder -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 6:38:17 PM)

Drama is when you start giving all your attention to something or someone that does not deserve it, when you make a mountain from a molehill and whatever it is, consumes your life.

theobserver -> RE: question about drama (5/22/2009 7:57:52 PM)

Drama is all day everyday; there is no escape.
