MistressBri2009 -> SCA and BDSM (5/17/2009 7:17:23 PM)

Is anyone else into both?

CruelDesires -> RE: SCA and BDSM (5/17/2009 7:21:26 PM)

Sometimes.

C-D

AlexandraLynch -> RE: SCA and BDSM (5/17/2009 7:23:07 PM)

Yes.

Haven't played in the SCA for about three years, but that was due to mundane issues, not lack of desire. I'm a very good medieval cook, and do a little brewing and some textile stuff as well, because I like sewing.

Sorry for the ignorance but what is SCA an acronym for?

The Society for Creative Anachronism. (SCA) It is common enough there is an interest item for it in the profiles here.

Be well....

Not yet..and having a bitch of a time trying to find a historically correct name

Malkinius -> RE: SCA and BDSM (5/17/2009 9:35:42 PM)

Greetings Bri....

Go talk to your local pursuivant. They can help you and/or put you in touch with the people who can. There is a national guild of people who just study names.

Be well....

Malkinius

I know a few in Aussie who are both. Will be more when I rejoin the SCA at a national (Kingdom) level  [:D]

SirJ40 -> RE: SCA and BDSM (5/18/2009 4:34:40 PM)

You betcha

Joseff -> RE: SCA and BDSM (5/18/2009 8:13:57 PM)

Yes, there's a lot of us. The first person I met at my first munch was a friend from the SCA. Joseff is actually my SCA name.

WyldHrt -> RE: SCA and BDSM (5/18/2009 8:19:48 PM)

I have been Josephine 'Hobby' Gordon for nigh almost a decade at this point and have been a member of The Morbid Deviants, now known as House Skullbend, for the past 6 and am still child 1,996 of Ma Penny, AKA Lady Penelope of Stonerskeep

MarsBonfire -> RE: SCA and BDSM (5/18/2009 8:27:15 PM)

Nah... I tried SCA at one time and found it far too much into it's own politics to be much fun... Honestly (and I know this is going to sound weird) but it was far too dark, ritualized and weird for me... me being someone who is otherwise into some pretty "structured" scenes... LOL

IronBear -> RE: SCA and BDSM (5/19/2009 4:41:46 AM)

Politics was the reason I never kept my membership up and here it is bias against older folk who had spent many, many years in it as well as a strong bias against a man of my years having a wife 30 years younger.. Not by all but enough to make us consider rejoining at Kingdom level. regarding the ritualised areas, this is just one of the many attractions with a group of folk attempting to recreate something of the best of that period of history in a romantic and Camelot style. personally I love it and to a lesser degree I have found it in other groups albeit metal weapons groups such as the Vikings etc. We'll either rejoin the SCA or once again form a new group based on 1066.
