I once had a dominant chastise me (okay more than one) for not capitalizing their pronouns.  I asked if he need the reminder of his station because I certainly didn't need it to remind myself that I am submissive. I think it is silly personally but to each their own.

Some people really find fulfillment/pleasure in altering grammar to reflect their relationships. As long as I can understand them and they respect me by giving my proper name a capital letter, I really don't care. I make an effort to write names (lowercase first letter or uppercase) as the person I'm writing about prefers. Other than that, I just try to follow the grammar rules that got drilled into me as a kid. If I had an owner who really cared about it, things would probably be different but I'm not a big fan myself.

I usually cap most names just because I have this thing ingrained in me about proper nouns being capitalized but there are times when I'm just lazy from typing all day in my line of work.

Yes my name is uncapped only because I got tired of malesubs constantly messaging me thinking I am a Domme. When it's uncapped I find that fewer message me although it hasn't stopped them all.

I personally prefer standard English capitalization. The slashy stuff is also very hard to read.

As a dominant, I don't feel right writing to another dominant and saying, for example, "I was hoping You would be free on a Sunday evening soon for dinner at my house...after all, I don't want to invite You if You can't come!" I am, after all, his or her equal.

Also, I don't use it with a sub that isn't my own. To Master Dick, Jane is 'jane'. If I call their house and she answers, "Sample residence," I'll talk to her about the dinner party and Dick and Jane's schedule just as I would to Dick...though I'd rather talk to Jane, since she's the social coordinator of the couple. I'll do the same if the scheduling conversation happens via IM, because she's not in submission to me, and so I give her all the basic courtesies of the rest of humanity.

And I don't use it with my current sub, because it feels wrong to me. And I get to make that decision. (grin)  Of course, I also reserve the right to change my mind in the future when doing online interactions with other submissives in relationship to me.

Until someone explains to me how one can "speak" out upper and lower case titles, names, ect, I will always think of this as an online protocal.  Kyst

this made me giggle) -

when i first started out, i used to capitilize and lower case all over the place, cos i was in awe of it all and thought it was being very respectful.  then i stopped doing it and now ive started doing it again cos ive been asked to by Himself.

i take youre point but in the head of some people using this protocol is much more than just a visual tool. its hard to explain.  but i suppose the only way to describe it is that you think in upper case and lower case.  as you get used to writing like this you start to get a feel for the emphasis when you talk too.  specially when i say Sir and on the odd occasions ive mumbled Master the S and the M feel bigger to me.

hm.  and youre prolly thinking im bats, so im going to bed now [&o]

Oooh Joseff, I haven't seen that one before.  That's actually pretty cool!  A grammar nazi's worst nightmare, but I've always had a healthy respect for being contrary [:)]

Thanks for sharing!

Just so happens, i'm a bit of a grammer- nazi too.

LOL see now I have a problem with that.  Having worked in the retail world for so many years before my current job I got into the habit of deliberately stressing the SIR or MAAM only when the customer was an ASS.
:) I like my mates far to well to tarnish them with that brush.  Even so, I never felt anyone was especially greater than I simply because I felt submissive toward them.  I feel submissive to men who are much like myself, curious, explorative, constantly seeking knowlege, and confident. Oddly enough I never called my x anything but his name or "hunnybear"... until now that we are split.  I still work with him and in my head he is sir.
...hmmmm
LOL omg.. still no cap.  I wonder what that means?
