Ha! They're having it anyway "un-officially" wink wink.
I'm in Myrtle Beach and there's bikes everywhere.
Some of the old foaggies (Buick drivers) do nothing but complain about everything.
"There's too much noise!" "There's too much traffic!" " The women are half naked!"

I went to Myrtle Beach Bike Week last year. Didn't actually go into Myrtle Beach even once. We spent our entire time in Murrell's Inlet. They have the best bars there and are very accomodating to the bikers. I know people who are heading down there tomorrow and are once again spending their money in Murrell's Inlet.

Aileen, yes I think Murrell's Inlet is the best area for the Bikers. It's real pretty there with huge 200 year old oak trees and a bunch of restaurants and bars and the marsh walk behind the Dead Dog Saloon and Drunken Jack's.
Then there's Suck Bang Blow right up the street, I might head over there this afternoon to *see the sights* ;)
P.S. actually I think it's better to keep "Bike Week" "Un-Official." That way you keep the local "officials" out of the loop unless you get pulled over be the cops. All the "Officials" want to do is impose "rules" and to try to get more of the Biker's money in "fees" and other crap.
I think it's funny! Now we still have the Bikers but the "Officials" aren't able to take as much money from them!
Can you say, "BACKFIRE?"  lolol

Myrtle Beach bike week is a fab idea and a great way to clean up the planet.  All those bikers in one spot at the same time makes it really easy to know exactly where to drop the bomb.

Isn't that a sweet, tolerant sentiment?

You do realize many people you talk to on these boards are bikers?

I'm sure as are many of the people you deal with in your daily life, people who ride and attend these events.

MB rocks for biker week! which in fact last for 10 days. Murrels Inlet is the place to be, Garden City and Surfside are the next two. if your going, dont book a place in north Myrtle Beach, its too far away from where most of the action is.

As far as nixing it... lol.. good luck with that. its too much a tradition and even the cops like to see the bikers pour into town. I so miss Druken Jacks! I like how they kept it family oriented though, the rally that is.. lol.

To any who are going, or live there... IM JEALOUS AND MISS IT LIKE CRAZY!

Ya know,
If they don't want bikers, bikers can spend their money wherever they want to....or not spend it where they don't.

Even in Daytona (just down the road from me), most of the "biker" action is outside Daytona now.  It started downhill once people started bringing their kids, strollers, etc.   Yeah, smart idea...bring your babies to an adult event.

It used to be fun and a chance to party hearty and cut loose.  Now, it is a nanny event downtown.  And guess who loses my money?  Yep.

I saw some Angels with "Hell's Angels- South Carolina" colors on today, I didn't know we had any Hell's Angels in S. Carolina. Plenty in N. Carolina though.
I like walking around and looking at the paint jobs on the bikes.
Some of them are gorgeous! They must have spent a ton of money on the paint alone!

The bikes are often works of art...and the women, well...."uninhibited" is a good word to describe it ;)

I'm in the south end of the "Grand Strand" about 10-15 minutes from Murrell's Inlet.
The Myrtle Beach city limits are about 12 miles North of us here in Socastee.
If I were a Biker I'd just avoid the city limits of Myrtle Beach, there's plenty of other areas to go to here that (do) want the Bikers and put out the welcome mat for them!
