Incredible what can be done today... To actually have survived being shot in the face and then to have a transplant....over 30 operations... and shes ready to face the world. I only wish her happiness and a happier future.

I saw the Xray of the pellets and bone fragments imbedded in her skull.  She is such a brave person to go through what she has.

FR:

I can't believe the husband only got 7 years for doing that. He should have never walked out of prison until he was a very old man. I've seen people get 7 years and more for drug possession. But this guy tries to kill his wife, mutilates her face, blinds her in one eye, and probably gave her nightmares for the rest of her life......and all gets is 7 years! It's absolutely outrageous.

She must have provoked him [8|] .

sirsholly -> RE: Face Transplant Lady (5/6/2009 6:49:49 AM)

She has lived a hell on Earth. I hope the transplant continues to be such a success (no rejection). She deserves happiness!

KMsAngel -> RE: Face Transplant Lady (5/6/2009 6:51:30 AM)

Much as you may admire her for the will to go through this, if she takes the guy back she is way dumber than a box of rocks.

i think they missed the mark on that one if she takes him back, they should have done a brain transplant!

I had a great aunt that stayed with her husband after he shot her eye out. Many years later, my great uncle had a nasty stroke. She waited on him hand and foot untill after he died.

UglyTruth -> RE: Face Transplant Lady (5/6/2009 9:00:31 PM)

From the article:

quote:

"When somebody has a disfigurement and don't look as pretty as you do, don't judge them, because you never know what happened to them," she said. "Don't judge people who don't look the same as you do. Because you never know. One day it might be all taken away."

I wish more people would heed that.

looks mean nothing, just the luck of the draw genetically.  what matters is the person inside, that will continue long after the looks fade.

edited for fingers that can't spell!

According to what I've read, the husband shot her first and then shot himself. Instincts tell me that these two have been in some crazy ordeals over the years of there marriage. Considering that both of them are still alive, perhaps it's fate that these two stay married.
