The FUNNIEST movie i thought he did was called "Hot stuff"....theres a scene in the movie where he smoked some pot and then got the munchies OMG...i almost pee'd on myself... i always liked his work.

LadyPact -> RE: Dom Deluise just died (5/5/2009 10:21:09 AM)

Terrible shame that he's gone.  Thanks to those who brought the subject up and provided links.

Rainfire -> RE: Dom Deluise just died (5/5/2009 10:27:02 AM)

I can't even begin to name the roles he did that had me rolling on the floor laughing. There was this episode of Stargate SG-1 he did that was absolutely classic. And there was a move with Burt Reynolds called "The End" where he was a mental patient trying to help Burt's character by killing him. Funnier than anything, even though I'm not a Burt fan.

[&o]  The world of great comedians, actors and talented chefs just got a lot smaller.

Lucylastic -> RE: Dom Deluise just died (5/5/2009 10:29:59 AM)

One of my favourite comedians, on stage, in tv and movies, he could just look acertain way and I would get the giggles. I loved him, may he rest in peace, the world is lucky to have had  him.

Oh damn, that sucks.

Thank you Lockit.

Unfortunately these things usually come in threes.  I will be interesting to watch the news for the next couple of weeks to see what other shining stars we lose.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Dom Deluise just died (5/5/2009 1:12:47 PM)

Considering his girth, the fact that he lived to 75 is pretty remarkable. He was a talented man. RIP.

krikket -> RE: Dom Deluise just died (5/5/2009 1:32:23 PM)

The stars in heaven just became a little brighter with his smile and humor.  RIP, Dom.

CatdeMedici -> RE: Dom Deluise just died (5/5/2009 2:07:24 PM)

SO sad, so very very sad, what a very funny man.

Lockit -> RE: Dom Deluise just died (5/5/2009 2:42:03 PM)

My step father looked like Robert Conrad.  He had a friend who looked just like Dom and damn that man was just as funny!  They decided to teach the kid (me) to drink... they were construction workers of the tough ol kind. OMG... I can remember laughing my ass off every weekend.  In fact, I don't even remember the guy's name because I called him Dom.

So when I heard this on the news I just did a spin emotionally.  It was like I knew him because of my dad's friend.

I keep thinking of Dom's family... his son that we got to know from Jump Street and the family interviews... My thoughts are with them... so very sad!

And how I remembered him and how He wanted to be remembered. No more Tears Dom was about the Good and the Love he wanted to be remembered for his life not mourned for his death. I feel for his sons but I know they take with them the legacy he left.

BKSir -> RE: Dom Deluise just died (5/5/2009 3:08:25 PM)

Yes, he did, and I greatly disapprove of this behavior.  How is he supposed to make another movie with Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder now!?

I think that my favorite things he did were when he worked with the muppets, and also in Haunted Honeymoon with Gene and Gilda.

He helped me to become a chef actually.  I got one of his cookbooks and he was doing a book signing, and he autographed it for me.  I remember him saying "You like to cook huh?" I was like 12 or 13 at the time, and said "Yeah, I love cooking!"  God I was so excited to just meet him.  I remember he said "Good!  That's the most important thing in any food, love.  Love what you do and do what you love, and then you can't ever go wrong.  You're gonna be a fine chef one day I bet."  Then he smiled.  That infectious smile, it just stayed with me until this day.  Such a warm, genuine, big hearted man.  That second one... genuine.  That's not a compliment I find that I'm able to give to a lot of people.  That, I think, is why he was so special.

Sleep well Dom...

EDIT:  Because I had to throw that link in there.

Bea Arthur just died a couple days ago.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Dom Deluise just died (5/5/2009 5:05:03 PM)

Dom and Bea acted together in "History of the World, Part One". One of the best Brooks movies I ever saw.
