Hello Rain, and other boarders,
I have what I term as 'positive regard' both on a professional and personal level and try to treat all people with respect anh courtesy. I am human though and there are some that it is difficult to have positive regard for and then......

I think I would very much like your father.

I was certainly fond of the old boy.  I barely even hold boarding school against him.

*shrugs*

I try to be polite and courteous to most people, however there are sometimes when sarcasm and snark come forth towards someone who has displayed exceptional stupidity, continued ignorance or rudeness. Then there is those few (huh, holly?!?) that I joke around with and if you're not familiar with our friendship, it could seem like I'm always on their case. I'd rather be polite and try to have a nice discussion, unfortunately, oft-times a few ruin it for all. Besides, if you can't take bluntness, honesty and an answer to your post, why in the world did you post? [:)]  As the saying goes around here, grow up and put your big girl/boy panties on, no need to get yer knickers in a knot! [:D]

The other hard part is that being a written forum, we can't tell what the "tone" of someone's voice is based on a few words typed on a screen at times. I might tell someone to go jump off a cliff but without hearing me or knowing me, how can someone tell if I'm joking or really wish that they'd disappear off the face of the planet? I try to use emoticons or *insert mood or gesture here* to make sure people can understand the mood or tone of what I'm saying. Not sure I always make myself clear though I do try.

Oh well, I am who I am... I've always liked the saying "Manners MATTER!"  from Julie Andrews in the Princess Diaries. *chuckles*

As a child I was taught early on the need for manners as well as courtesy and have instilled the same in my children. In dealing with the general public, believe me, my limits have often been tested. I am amazed at the lack of manners displayed by many but, then I will see well mannered children and compliment both the parents and children on their behavior. It has become more rare that courtesy or manners are displayed and yet those that work for me know that I will tolerate nothing that is even broaching upon dis-courteous service to those who truly pay the bills, no matter how that particular customer tries to display the fact that he or she is truly as big an asshole as they are trying to be. We have learned ways to kill them with kindness yet get the point across that needs to be made without turning into assholes ourselves....although I am often tempted!!!!!!!
