I am not sure why they are closing school's either, if it is "not that serious".
I just heard 2 local schools will be closed for 2 weeks.

I still think washing your hands is the best preventive.

Also, Owner I thought most people know not to open public restroom doors with their hands.
I also don't turn the water off in public restrooms with my hands.
I also make sure my UM's do the same.
I have noticed some public restrooms have a trash can by the door, they figure many people
are not opening the door with their hands!
Why wash your hands, and then touch a germ ridden doorknob?

I was going by a few things i have read.

I was on a cruise to Mexico. they wouldn't let us off of the ship.

The day we came back home i woke up with a sore throat. I am not worried that it is the Swine Flu. I have no temperature.

If I have to hear the teen fret one more time about possible quarantine, I may strangle him. I finally convinced him that even if they quarantine the small town we live in, all his friends live here too.

But I want to know why horses can be vaccinated against West Nile, and people can't.

Hell, while Texas continues to close entire school districts, UIL events, and PROMS, the state of Illinois takes on a different approach.

Unlike the NBA and MLB here in US, Mexico is taking precautions on its pro soccer games. The teams still play but fans are not allowed in the arena.

With only a max of 200 confirmed cases here in the US, it's unlikely to be calling this an epidemic. 200 out of 500 million citizens with only one fataility from the toddler that came from Mexico for treatment.

I'm just not scared of the flu. Especially this one.

I have had a policy in My household for many years:

Anyone coming in that front door washes the world off their hands before they touch anything I own.

I also like to have them take off their shoes. Both of those things make me smile for various reasons.

I have a sub who is getting that check today at a lab. If he has it I may get it and if I do I am also wondering if this will help me build up an immunity to that winter mutation?

I am also wondering *warning...conspiracy theory ahead*  if this was all used as an exercise and was intentionally used to send a message to any Terrorists that may have a plot to use Biological warfare tactics? This might have been a heads-up that we are ready, armed, and can set-up protections quickly?

Ok: I have been up most of the night and my mind wanders to dangerous places sometimes ...

the media loves feeding people fear which tends to make overly nervous and cautious people to panic.

i had one friend asking what i'm doing to protect my girls from catching it. i guess he was expecting me to bubble wrap and mask the hell out of them. why should i? it's not like Capt Tripps from The Stand (as of yet) but i'm not certainly going to take extreme measures either.

my daughter's bf was told by his grandmother that he might catch the swine flu from my daughter because she's half Mexican. yep she believes that anyone who is Mexican automatically has the flu virus. and it's just her believing that racist crap - i've witnessed it myself. a Hispanic woman coughed on the train and people literally moved away from her. one Black woman loudly said she's never going to sit next to a Mexican again.

i haven't seen people wearing masks around here but i'm sure it'll be the latest fashion statement soon the more people let fear control them.
