The business about Rumsfeld and Tamiflu is actually true.

The rest sounds like horrendous fear-mongering.  The Boston Globe reported that the Spanish flu was caused by inoculations given to U.S. servicemen?  Got a source for that?

Center for Disease Control says no origin of the 1918 influenza pandemic is known.

Tamiflu is a joke.

Chapman is like really old.  He isnt fear mongering.  He is saying flu shots are not something a person wants.  Hmm- per haps the globe was on micro film.
He is colorful with his wording- and mostly his opinion is that the deck is stacked. (shock)

Wasnt is a few months ago- they mixed up live bird flu into a batch of vaccines?   (and in a few different locations)

April is not Flu season.

In 76 alot of people got sick off of that shot that was required.

Lets not forget the US dropped virus over Cuba to kill the pigs in an attempt to starve the people there.  Swine flu was developed/or used to kill swines.

Now it is well known that the source of entry into this country was through returning servicemen but that's a lot different.

According to The Guardian it originated in Kansas and spread to Europe through troop movements.

Saying "Oh I read such-and-such in the Boston Globe" without giving a precise reference--especially since I doubt very much that he read anything of the kind in the Boston Globe--is fear-mongering.

We really have no idea where the outbreak started. Kansas is extraordinarily unlikely though. For a veriety of reasons influenza virus strains are much more likely to arise in subtropical environments.

I personally wouldn't know, but The Guardian has stated Kansas. It's a pretty serious newspaper, and I doubt they'd risk their reputation without there being something behind it; though they could be wide of the mark.

A quick look through my books shows a number of theories. All the virologists dismiss the initial identification of a mass outbreak occuring in kansas as simply where the first large outbreak occured not where the viral strain originated. It seems the consensus is that it was an avian flu and the likely orgins was China or southern Mexico. Further the more lethal strain appears in August 1918 nearly simulatneously in Boston USA, Brest France and Freetown Sierra Leone which indicates that the likely actual source of that patient zero was a shipping port elsewhere.
