Well it wasn't a CNN reporter they just reported on the arrest of the reporter.

The officer went over the top and is now on desk duties it said, red mist.

The reporter was being a jerk and was pushing the buttons on the cop. I think the cop over reacted, but then so what, he is just a reporter and probably needs his noodle bounced.

Yeah the reporter still got his story anyhow, probably won't care in the long run.

I'm with the cop, in my days--my scene, my rules --and on the wrong side of the road on a potentially busy 4 lane highway--nope sorry, move along dude or have a meal and a night sleep on the city.

Freedom of the press does not allow them a free pass to break laws or interfere with police during the performance of their jobs. More reporters should get to spend some time in jail for this kind of behavior. I have had to have them removed from sites where I was working as security. I have also removed them from the homes of my friend's parents and grandmother after my friend committed suicide. Freedom of the press is not a universal trump card.

When it potentially endangers the lives of others or can muck up a crime scene--yes! Doing as they are told or a few minutes out of the way until a scene is secured would have gotten the reporter the news he wanted with out endangering himself OR anyone else.

What i found interesting is the officer calling the cameraman "Boy"....and later hearing his voice, it made me wonder what sort of " Man" he was speaking to....very resonant basefilled voice....hmmmm

Sorta James Earl Jonesish....just a thought.

...come to think of it- when there is an accident locally the press talks to the authorities not to the motorists. (usually)

Freedom of the press has nothing to do with getting mouthy with a police officer. I'm pretty sure it ment having the freedom to print what you want in your newspaper.
