So, eating less, but living longer?   Where is the Cost/Benefit analysis?  At what "age" of thin do you begin to cost more to keep you around (from an "energy cost") than someone who is not thin who dies younger?

Seriously, we may need to get into shape, but for the ability to enjoy life more fully.  But to start blaming "being fat" for "Global Warming" is kinda silly.

I mean, aren't there "Starving African Kids" offsets to "Flabby Americans" somewhere?

Maybe I could start a business modeled after  Al Gore's "Carbon Offset" ... a "Flab Offset" ...hmmm.

It's all about control. Whether they use guilt, soldiers or another tool to convince you to get in step, the result is the same. We have two political sides that are extreme opposites of each other usually. They each have their tools they prefer to use.

I read somewhere that fat people cost the airlines an extra $538m in fuel costs every year.
And we need to get rid of most of the school busses too.
I got stuck behind one and they were stopping at every other house! And most of the u/m's that got off it were overweight! Those kids need to walk!
One u/m was probably 10-12 years old with a beer belly and he was gnawing on a tootsieroll bar as he got off!
I was right behind the bus and there were about 10-12 cars behind me.
The um's on the back of the bus started sticking their tongues out at me so I gave them the finger!
They started giving me the finger back when all of a sudden the bus pulled over and the driver went marching up to the back of the bus! Ha, Ha!
So we all got around the bus. That's a neat trick, try it the next time you get stuck behind a school bus.
Those fat asses should be walking!

Nice. You showed those children a good example of adult behavior

No I didn't, I taught them a lesson.
I'm not here to teach them about "adult behavior.
"Old and smart wins out over young and inexperienced."
They shouldn't be sticking their tongues out at the cars behind their bus, should they?
What are they going to do anyway, run after me? They'd have heart attacks from being so fat.
When I was their age I was hopping freight trains, what do they do, "couch time?"

You are not familiar with sarcasm are you Popeye? I was not suggesting that you were capable of teaching them anything about adult behavior. Clearly, you were behaving more juvenile than they were. They wanted a reaction from you and they got what they wanted.

Scarlet, "got what they wanted?"
LOL, I doubt that, they probably ended up in detention the next day!

Oh Popeye they didn't get detention. Don't you know no one is allowed to punish kids any more. They probably got a lecture and nothing more.  This isn't like when you and I were in school. My mother would have beat my ass.
Parents then had no idea they were creating all of us future little subbies and Dominants back then.

Overweight people are the new political target now they have dealt with those smokers, they'll associate global warming (an issue most people care about) with obesity (an issue of individual choice and consequence) together to tackle them both. The real reason they care is for public services such as the NHS that is affected more in regards to this issue.

I found the article to be insulting as if that line of reasoning will help me lose weight.

I've lost weight but as soon as I did they took the med that helped off the market and replaced with an ineffective piece of crap.

Medicare won't pay for surgery unless I lose 20 pounds. Well, if I can lose 20 pounds I don't need your surgery.

I've been fighting this battle for more than 20 yrs

there's  one thing that you can do. Consume less, Exercise more. If you can't do that you'll remain overweight.

I'm eating a lot less about 1200 K cal a day. My disability prevents me from exercising and there in lies the problem.
and I live on less than 2K a month and I live alone.

Don't get on someone because they're over weight unless you've walked a mile in my shoes.

I agree kids should get more exercise but most schools have removed phys ed from the curriculum.

besides do we want slim kids or kidnapped kids. It happens everyday.

This just in my email today:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Below is a conversation with a Doctor:

Q:  I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life;  is this true?
A:  Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's  it... Don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out  eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q:  Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A:  You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A:  No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q:How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A:  Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q:What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A:  Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is : No Pain...Good!

Q:Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A:  YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!  .....  Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact,  they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q:  Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft  around the middle?
A:  Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a  bigger stomach.

Q:  Is chocolate bad for me?
A:  Are you crazy?  HELLO! Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q:  Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good  for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q:  Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A:  Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I  hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have  had about  food and diets.

And remember:
'Life  should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body,  but rather to skid in sideways - Wine in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and  screaming 'WOO  HOO, What a Ride'.

I just want one of those "fat" people--I know you're supposed to be PC and say "bigged boned"--to sit on this person.

As I mentioned in Humor...

I have the body of a God....unfortunately, it is Budda in his later years.....

So picking on fat people would equate with religious discrimination now, right?
