Status: offline 		and not the popular TV show!

so Master and slave met on here and then slave flew over to the US for a holiday together and we had  the best time... we so desperately want to be together full time but now have hit the relocation snag...

was wondering if any other couples had managed it from the UK to the US? - we know we're going to have to get married, but figuring out the variety of Visa options is proving tricky.....

Any advice, tips or general stories of success are most welcomed by MasterSoren and his slave mira....

Status: offline 		haha sorry that does sound rather clinical but was not meant to be so in any shape or form... slave believes more in collaring than she does marriage to bring Master and slave together...  however in conventional world - of course we are wanting to be married....

as for applying for a visa as you say - it really not that simple - have looked into SO many options!

Status: offline 		make sure that you cross all the "t"s and dot all the "i"s and be sure to ASK questions and ask different variations of the same question ..........immigration doesn't volunteer anything (don't mention the F word *fiance/e* for some reason that raises more red flags than anything) (being married and having to live in different countries because of a technicality just has to suck)......have known a few that have jumped through hoops only to be denied because this form wasn't  filled out in black ink, it was done in blue or vice versa  *sighs*........welcome to the wonderful world of bureaucracy

Status: offline 		If you have looked into this... have you looked into what happens if things don't work out as planned and what you will do then?  Like how to get back home... or what you do if he demands things you don't wish to do?  I knew a woman who moved to her 'met once' dominant.  She moved from her country and joined him and all of a sudden he became someone she didn't know... if she ever did know him.  She was stuck in America and crying the blues because she couldn't get home and he was being very cruel.

There is more to think about than how to make it happen.

How about the fact that you have medical care where you are and won't here?  You either must be able to support yourself in every way or he must prove he can afford to sponser you.  Marriage might seem the easy way to go... but I'll tell you this... I sure as hell wouldn't marry (collar)someone I met one time and had a good time with, who lived outside my country!

Have you had the talk... the financial talk that includes all of this and then some?

thank you for your wise words - and yes we have had several conversations around the finances and general life topic... it's difficult to explain to others about your own relationship and to be honest so long as this slave continues to feel the trust that she has in Master then that is fine... it's not been a fly by night thing!

Good grief - that totally sucks about the ink thing....  Thank you so much for your advice, will be sure to pay attention to the forms...

Is seriously rubbish when 2 people want to be together and can't because of red tape!

Sigh...

It wasn't other's I was addressing.  If you feel safe in doing this... great!  But passive aggressive... thanks, (but no use to me)... maybe it will for other's... is interesting.

I am not aware there is "a variety of visa options" for someone who marries an American. There is a fiance visa, and from when you actually do the deed he applies for your green card, eventually you apply for citizenship, if you want to. If you end up not living together, or separating, within a certain number of years, you lose your residency, I think these days you get a temporary green card, and then after a year you have to o back and reapply, provided you still live together.

What variety of visas are you referring to? I haven't looked at this for a while - but I am an immigrant meself. As the spouse of a U.S. citizen you have a right of abode, although I understand the administrative process is not quick, these days.

Check the State Department / US Embassy website, it is all spelled out there in gory detail.

She doesn't, he does. And it is just a matter of filling out a form and forking over money, if it is an alien marrying American. Not rocket science.

you can look into employer sponsorship - which in this girls line of work is another option, however in the current economic climate that's pretty tough too and not very secure for the future - who knows how the current recession is going to pan out!

I don't know what makes you think that - there is a fiance visa that betrothed folk are supposed to apply for, the only issue is that if she are intending to marry a U.S. citizen she has to get the right visa to visit him, that can't be done on a visa waiver. But it is all very much cut andried, it doesn't get complicated until she wants to bring her kids into the country. The basic rule is simple - apply for the visa that fits your situation - don't visit the fiance on a tourist visa, don't do journalistic stuff without a media visa, etc. There is a handy table pointing at all the forms at the State Department website, and there are information numbers in each country to call the U.S. consulate visa folks in that country.

It is what we're called, here. And in England, as well - I vividly remember having to register with the Alien's Police in High Holborn when I moved to England in pre-EU days. It says so on my little card - Resident Alien. I don't mind too much, at least I get to go through the Citizen line, at airports.

All that will get her is a work permit, and then she will have to work for that employer until her green card is issued - few employers do this any more, unless they really want you, and it takes five years at least. There are other "shortcuts" - but the problem is that if you come to the US to marry a guy, and you do that via an employment visa, you're breaking the law, and can get deported. Same with a student visa - if you know the guiy, apply for a student visa, and then go live with him, you're breaking the law. If you then get married and apply for a change of status, which is possible, the FBI will investigate, as it does all immigrant aliens - sometimes thoroughly, sometimes perfunctorily - if they do find out this was all planned, you're on the plane home, and barred from entry for 5 or 10 years.

Brilliant - am going to trip past the Alien Police station on the way to work tomorrow...

by the way - thanks for all your comments Master and mira are going to contact the various embassies and see what we have to do... guessing it will take a year or two but with a few trips to visit in between should hopefully fly by!
