The dummies in the government didn't put conditions on the bailout like the money must be used for legit business purposes.  If they want to spend taxpayer money on suing some guy who has bad opinions of them and makes them cry, there's not much we can do about it.

It's getting REALLY near pitchfork and torches time.

Bad move by Goldman Sachs. It adds to the proof how incompetent these guys are. How many people read these small blogs? Not many. Lawsuit would multiply the interest and site hits sometimes thousands of times.

A man after my own heart. If I leaned that way you could have it, LOL.

There was a young lad with a site called "Preditorix" that ripped a new one for... I forget which unethical and law breaking lender it was. He was good, and dug up all kinds of accurate and truthful info about their numerous bad deeds. He was shut down and is being sued.

Yes, they can do it. Unlimited resources for the legal and PR divisions mean they do just about anything they want and then hide it well from the general populace.

Yes, they almost certainly can. Aren't they said to have key shareholder interests in the Federal Reserve? Don't they have enough wealth and power to buy politicians and judges at will? What single man can stand up against this force? Will the mainstream media keep this case out in the open, for the masses to scrutinize?

Not always...

I love the Ben and Jerry's story about Pillsbury.  When Ben and Jerry's began branching out to supermarkets, Pillsbury began threatening store managers that if they carried their competitor's ice cream (Pillsbury owns Haagen Daz), Pillsbury might pull all their products from that store.  Unethical, and illegal as well.

Ben and Jerry knew that if they sued, they would get drained in court battles.  Instead, they offered a Doughboy Defense Kit as a mail-in offer.  If you got it, you got a bumper sticker saying "What's the Doughboy Afraid of?" and a letter to your congressman.  The bumper stickers caught on and there were news reports describing the whole situation.  Pillsbury got tons of bad press and contacted Ben and Jerry to settle out of court.

DarkSteven,

A good "counter" to tell us about, but not really on point. Comparing "food manufacturers" to "Banksters" is pretty far from synonomous. Pretty far from even similar.

Nasty, yeah they could but you'd have no problem finding a lawyer for a counter suit and the *last* thing they'd ever want is for something like that to go before a jury of the people!

Business is business. Hubris is hubris. They made a bad mistake trying to shut down an independant, though uncomplimentary blog. They only drew the limelight onto themselves, and generated the ire of more people than were against them in the first place. I guess that's the American way.

This reminds me of the situation with the movie "Passion of the Christ". Mel whatever his name finamced the movie himself, and the ADL, JDL, good old Abe Foxman and B'nai Brith all came out against it, but in the end they actually wound up giving it free advertising, making it a best seller and putting even more money in Mel's pocket. There was also another movie, one of the many 9/11 movies that was under fire basically because it was too close to election time. That one I saw, and I do not agree with quite a bit of it, but in their protest, and actually going to court to try to prevent it's release drew more attention to it in the public eye.

That is the definition of hubris, as it differs from pride or anything else. It is when people think they are so untouchable that they can trample upon the rights of others, and don't see the backlash coming, which can result in their demise. It also proves that there is no IQ test involved in getting rich, this is the world in which we live.

Let me just mention this, I would not do it under any circumstances because of my core beliefs, but I can shut down any website anytime I want. It is your right to speak against me and I believe that no matter what you say, you have the right to say it. Of course then I get my chance to rebut it.

Running Linux of a certain flavor you just get into the browser settings and there is this one parameter that is set to 5 by default. You set it to say 1,000 and any site you try to go to will crash. How much should I charge for that LOL. ?

All these people think they are fucking smart, but I really don't see it that way. If they knew anything at all about the people of the US they should know that we inherently want that which we cannot get. In trying to stifle dissenting opinions, all they do is draw our attention to them all the more.

I think it's pretty cool actually.

C'mon hunk, have some sympathy. One of the fingers has a crack on it on the owner's ivory back scratcher. How can you be so inhumane and allow people speaking the truth to kick the poor guy when he is down ?

PS, don't get me started on a sarcasm contest, you need the BIG guns for that. And I got a million of them. This actually gives me an idea to go start something down in Polls. LOL

But, corporate America as a general rule often tries to use the courts to squelch free speech...all of it. Some federal judges are getting wise and once in court have fined them for the attempt.
