Well, I guess this means the taping of the "Peeps Gone Wild" video is off.

Hangs head, kicks the carpet and licks chocolate off lips.

Not gonna say whose lips.

Easter is one of the three best days in the year, when the entire family gathers.

It's all good.

I'm an atheist, Hunk. I grew up in a multicultural background with people of various religions/ethnicities, I went to a catholic convent school and was taught by nuns (eeevil wimmen!). I have had a lifelong interest in theology and respect others for their observances. I consider periods at Christmas, Easter, etc... as 'Family Days'. I am going to continue to attend those occasions which hold special significance for those I love and it's fair to say, that as a result, these occasions, by association, have become special to me, too.

Despite the absence of those special people in your life, enjoy the wonderful memories and have a great day today.

Easter was always a big holiday in our family  but then I found I preferred the fertility pagan aspect of regrowth and rebirth of nature, I love spring, I dont like organised religion,(and Good Friday always made me sad)  but whatever your beliefs, Have a wonderful Easter  and enjoy the coming spring weeks.

Does tolerance for others include not preaching in everyone's face?

What you do in your home and your church is your business. If you bring it to a public forum I have as equal a right to laugh at or redicule, as others do to preach.

I haven't seen anyone "preaching" in this thread. If you want to talk about "rights" with respect to religion you might want to consider the spirit of the U.S. Constitution's guarantee of "the free exercise thereof," which harrassment and ridicule certainly impinges upon. I mean, jeeez, 59 just wished everybody a Happy Easter. Can't you folks give it a break?

I wonder if Easter goes much past bunnies and eggs for most people?

I'm a Christian and the day means a whole lot more to me than that.  For me it means that come judgement day Jesus will stand up after all my sins have been recounted to me and state that he paid the price for me.

Happy Easter everyone..

My opening performance brought over $1,000 in donations and pledges for essential medical supplies for those who survived Hurricane Katrina along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.

I would rather it wasn't a time of judgment..

well today i kept my mum company and went with her to her local church.  a quintissential english church in the depths of hampshire (norman i believe), with primroses and violets growing on the graves and birds singing in the forest behind it.  we prayed for the world, for everyone who hurts and we belted out hymns till our throats hurt.  all ages young to old were there, a collection of easter eggs was by the door, i guess for kids who dont get given them and another collection for razor blades and shaving foam (i didnt ask).  as i sang and prayed i remembered that we (my family) used to organise an easter egg hunt in the grave yard for all the local kids and how i used to go around with tom, when he was very small and help him find the nests.

it did me good because it was community and caring and thinking of other things and other people and actually doing something that keeps small places like that alive and thriving.  its important.

if youre referring to my post, and i think you were - i wasnt preaching anything to anyone, i was simply saying that connecting with  our community, family and the rest of the world is an important thing.

its the muppet mentality that goes around with a bee in its hat just because someone has a view, even loosely connected to religion.. religion is an ethic an ethos a premis a code for morality a place to focus and for some it means community and hope. none of that is a bad thing.  it isnt preaching to say that its stating a fact.

No, I wasn't.

I was referring to sharainks' post that Stella re-posted.

That's great Stella!  i'm glad to hear it was a successful performance.
