ORIGINAL: littlewonder I grew up in an area where it was frowned upon for a woman to make more money than her husband so I've seen a lot of relationships sour after the children were grown and out of the house and the wife decided to go back to work and she still ended up making more money than her husband or she was wiser in the ways of saving her money. It made the husbands insecure and paranoid. What is she saving her money for? Is she going to leave one day? What does she need me for if she can do it all on her own? Men there like dependent women. Independence is a threat to their manhood. Me personally...it makes no difference to me as long as we're both pulling our weight and being responsible adults. In an ideal world, it wouldn't matter but for me such income is a great opportunity to save and invest in order to 'retire' early...and very nicely. There is also the ability to invest in life insurance leaving everybody 'whole' when a bread winner passes away. BTW, my 3rd sub in life all those many years ago...is now an MD/PHD and even back then, made very good money...good. My first 'slave' was a JD and made a whole lot more than me. "Great, let's get into the market."
