I wonder if he curled his pinky?

DesFIP -> RE: man arrested for mailing tea to house rep (4/3/2009 6:28:08 PM)

Overreaction much?

It was a media covered protest, he identified it on the damn envelope even, and put his name and address.
Obviously a dangerous criminal.

Next someone will get arrested for littering if they dump it in Boston harbor.

Lockit -> RE: man arrested for mailing tea to house rep (4/3/2009 6:32:59 PM)

The tea terrorist... lol  I think they are expecting trouble and are panicking... they know they fucked their employers.

pahunkboy -> RE: man arrested for mailing tea to house rep (4/3/2009 7:05:41 PM)

I personally would not have sent tea.  Bob Chapman had said the % of IRS compliance.  The number is lower then one would think.  If I see the link again- I will post it.

I dont know what makes congress respond to the people they represent.     Things are pretty far gone.  ....even to sway them on a bill- that is pretty difficult considering they dont read them, and there isnt time to review what the lobbiests prewrote.   The patriot act law was all wrote up- and ready to go- then we had no way of knowing we would be attacted.  Even tho that same place was attacted in 1993.

Congresss should go thru every law and delete the ones we dont need.  I wonder if they have any idea how traitorous that the public views them.  Alen Spector is up for re-election.      He is boasting on how he has seniority and can bring bacon to PA.   But- he will get no sale with me.

The TARP has changed everything.  Dont forget it takes months or a few years- for such to make its way thru the grid.

Oh- all the bail outs- enjoy Soda Pop.   They want  a federal tax of 2 cents an ounce.     How many ounces do you drink in a year?  A bunch of other sin taxes are planned as well.

wtf?  Where do you get this?  Only reference I could find was this.  5 cents per can, not 24 cents:

One of the revenue-raising options being discussed by Kennedy's staff is increasing taxes on sugar-sweetened soft drinks, the heavy consumption of which is a leading cause of obesity. The staff has discussed a tax of about 5 cents per 12 oz of soda, which would raise an estimated $8 billion a year.

Why not?  Let's pass a tax on jerking off next.  I hear it's leading to an epidemic of hairy palms. [8|]  Tax and spend, tax and spend.....exactly what Obama promised not to do.

Cagey18 -> RE: man arrested for mailing tea to house rep (4/3/2009 9:55:01 PM)

Do try and keep up.  First of all, Obama made no such promise.  Second, this is a proposal by Ted Kennedy's staff, not President Obama.

Yes he did make that promise (no one under $250k will see their taxes raised).  I guess only rich folks drink soda pop.  Ted and Barack are on the same team.  Now, you try and keep up.

Yes he did make that promise (no one under $250k will see their taxes raised).

Again, he's referring to his own tax proposals--the President has no control over what any member of Congress proposes.  Unless you actually think that Ted Kennedy does whatever a President tells him to.

MarsBonfire -> RE: man arrested for mailing tea to house rep (4/4/2009 7:03:43 AM)

Instead, you'd rather have the GOP's plan? Spend, spend, spend, and cut taxes so the debt grows like a wildfire? Haven't we had enough of that?

You break the whole of the "tax increases" down, and you find out that we're just going back to Clinton era levels. Big Whoop. Except that those tax levels led to us balancing the budget, and having a revenue surplus by the time he left office. Had Bush kept that money instead of giving most of it to his rich buddies, (and a fraction back to the people in the form of a paltry tax rebate, just to stop their bitchin') he could have paid for the Iraq War without having to borrow a dime from China. Or he could have fixed social security. Or done any number of better, more worthwhile things that attacking the wrong fucking country... one that didn't have a thing to do with 9-11.

OMG.....How many of us would go broke???  But think of the money they would raise[:D]

It’s the letters marked ‘anthrax protest’ you have to worry about.

Emergency responders must have a long history of smoking tea and drinking tobacco since green tea looks a bit different to tobacco based on one being dark green and the other dark brown. Maybe I'm wrong I'm no tea tobacco expert either.

Hello MarsBonfire

I've been wondering for a good while now; I'm assuming that is you in the photo. My question is this: just exactly what planet is that in the background of the photo?

I assume that you have missed the rather accurate information that our savior, Lord Obama, the Queen of San Fran and Harry the Senator has actually set forth a larger deficit than all the other Presidents, to include your favorite target “W”. It must be accurate, Fox can't shut the fuck up about it. The other networks are hiding it or simply making casual commentary over it and yet the Dems don't even begin to deny it, or even try and explain it away.

Of course we need higher taxes after these first one hundred days in the rise of facism.

Here are some real points of interest.

Both of these leading parties’ supporters spend more time apologizing for their super leaders than they do anything. I’ve noticed that even that moron Shaun Hannity is finding Dems that are starting to distance themselves from the eternal candidate and his spending spree. In one hundred days the new lord of the three ring circus is demonstrating that I was right in worrying about just who was this man that claimed to be all things to all people. The only way to be all things to all people is that he is lying to everyone, including himself.

The morals of the system are broken, and no I am not speaking about the religious effect. Honor and integrity are no longer valued commodities and the whole of Washington has dismissed the constitution as optional reading unless of course they can use it to their advantage. Politics has been a cut throat business since the dawn of time, but it’s amazing to watch in person as people in the zest to simply win their point are actually cutting their own throats in the process.

I don’t understand it, if you don’t like freedom and want to serve a master why not simply move to a country where they have that already. This country wasn’t built by a government, it’s wealth wasn’t spawned by the government and yet so many seem eager to hand it to the government. A governement who has obviously never been able to balance a personal check book never mind a book the size of, of, of. Just ask Fred Grandy about that.

The government is out of control and this spending spree is yet another result in the lapse of moral credibility established by the majority of the Washington Elite. You see the morality and philosophy of the United States is or at least was defined within that very constitution. The tea parties are only going to grow for our Democratic leftists.

I suggest that the avid supporters of both the Republican and Democratic parties put down the koolaid of their choice, stop insisting your right simply to win a moot point and take a look at the country as Americans. Your partisan politics that are consumed with winning at all costs (cutting off your nose to spite your face) have corrupted both sides of this very worn and tarnished coin.

Bull the Constitutionalist…

Vote Libertarian…

Yea, I much prefer we borrow and spend like most of the last 30 years.

By the way; he didn't attack the wrong country, he finished a job his father failed to do, in effect he was left to clean up a mess he inherited, much the same as your present complainer states about his predicament.

Kinda like the Dems are doing to our posterity with this spending spree of theirs. I must admit, it is all on them, not one of those friggin' Republicans are on board with this one. That's two big bills and the obvious dismissal of the opinions of nearly half of the United States.

I wager we'll be playing Taps sooner than would have been suspected.

Well now, let's see if that's really true now, shall we?

Contribution to national debt under Ronald Reagan: $1.8 trillion
Contribution to national debt under George H. W. Bush: $1.5 trillion
Contribution to national debt under Bill Clinton: $1.5 trillion
Contribution to national debt under George W. Bush: $4.9 trillion
Contribution to national debt under Barack Obama: $0.5 trillion

Granted, Obama has only been in office 2 1/2 months (and it would be just plain stupid of anyone to extrapolate from these numbers to the rest of Obama's term(s)), but it's obvious Obama didn't create the current $11.1 trillion debt all by himself.

Contribution to national debt under Ronald Reagan: $1.8 trillion              8 years...
Contribution to national debt under George H. W. Bush: $1.5 trillion       4 years...
Contribution to national debt under Bill Clinton: $1.5 trillion                     8 years...
Contribution to national debt under George W. Bush: $4.9 trillion            8 years...
Contribution to national debt under Barack Obama: $0.5 trillion               100 plus a few days

I've never apoligized for any of these others, I may have understood some of the spending, I still disagreed with much of it.

Obama was the man talking about change, I believe that was the rallying cry for his entire campaign, hell half the time it appears he's still running this campaign based on "change"...

Looks like the same old shit with a few superficial alterations for for aesthetic appeal.

So anyway, let's have a look see in 4 years, cause at this rate he'll be done at that point.

We are a people that are over-governed, under accountable and lead by the blind.

So, what conclusions can be drawn?
1. President Obama didn't create the $11.1 trillion debt by himself.
2. "W" did in fact create the largest share of the debt by himself.
3. So much for the "accuracy" of FoxNews.

You really think President Obama will institute a $700 billion stimulus bill every 100 days, hmm?  Hence my warning about extrapolation.

Speaking with folks in this area does not lead me to believe that Obama's popularity is decreasing.  More often than not they are furious with the members of congress.    If Obama wants to put his entire presidency on the line using stimulus packages they seem willing to go along with that.  If Obama is right, he gets their votes.  If he is wrong, some other party gets their votes.
