OMG...I remember that...only it came on Saturday nights at 11:30 after the local news for us. It may have been a rebroadcast from Bob Wilkin's Creature Feature in Sacramento though that we were getting in upstate NY. Hmmmm that brings back fond memories of a lot of bumping and grinding going on on my parents living room floor with the tv volumn turned up....tee hee

we had,,,past tense

the acry(acree?) creature feature each weekend--they sponsored aluminum siding....
but they went out of business all too quick

and yes

back BEFORE cable...we had 4 stations...
cbs=2
nbc=7
abc=9
and
12/32 was ipbn IF you could GET vhf/uhf...

and all in living black and white

I also have a fascination with Serial Killers. I collected and read hundreds of books but sold them all when my kids began to get older.

The best Horror film of all time is The Pianist. You don't need pure gore to feel such ferocity towards human kind. As for gore...... Jeepers Creepers is my favourite, part 2.

Serial Killers? The sickest f*cks of all time in my mind were the despicable duo Fred and Rosemary West, homegrown here in England. May they rot in Lucifers molten well until their screams join those of their victims.

As for it being too close to realism...I could not answer that...I do not follow the catholic doctrine of possession...and have never seen anything that would come even close to this.

I know one thing, the TV industry botched the return of THE NIGHT STALKER, miscasting Karl Kolchak and setting too much of it during the daytime.

LOL Gauge, I think most of us watched those Saturday afternoon monster movies lol. I still remember the first time they put 'I was a teenage werewolf' on there.

Ahhh...the good ole days...those movies were worth watching

They generally screw up all serial killer movies. I have yet to see one that even comes close to following what really happened. Sometimes the truth is scarier then fiction, but Hollywood hasn't figured that out yet.
They can't make a serial killer be the guy next door, or the lonely woman down the street. They have to make them mentally ill (which often isn't the case), stupid (which is never the case) or something else to try to "explain" the killings. Often there is no why, they just kill because they want to or because they feel the need to do so. There are cases where the killer is what we would consider "ill" or "sick" but they have no disease that is diagnosable, they just aren't the same as the people who don't kill. Silence of the Lambs is the closest that it comes, and not because of Buffolo Bill.
If people were to actually read the actual accounts of these serial killers they would laugh at the follishness of the movies.

When I saw the exorcist as a wee tyke, I was totally relaxed, which provided a different experience. Two or three times I saw a frame inserted into the film, one of them being a skull that flashed in front of Blair whats-er-name's head. In other words, they were using subliminal projection.

My brother was the only other person I know who noticed this too.

Not necessarily...Helter Skelter was pretty good...the original...though I tend to look at it as a serial killer movie, not sure that it was classified as such.

You know Petruchio, it was not until they did the new one with the deleted scenes that I noticed the flashing skull on the refrigirator. I had to watch it two more times to make sure that I had seen it lol.

I have seen this movie several times. If I may ask a question? I was always under the assumption that The Night Stalker was really about Jack The Ripper? If my assumption is correct, then they botched that whole movie completly. If I am wrong though, please feel free to correct me.

Serial Killer movies, I have yet to see one that is an accurate depiction. I have found though that the books are usually quite accurate.

The movie The Night Stalker was based on Richard Ramirez, aka The Night Stalker. He was a serial killer and rapist in Los Angeles County in the mid 80's (1985 to 1986 if I am not mistaken). They called him the Night Stalker because he always attacked at night (yay for newspaper and media creativity).
On an interesting note, he was married in prison to a woman by the name of Doreen Lioy in 1996.

Helter Skelter was a good one. I wasn't saying that they screw up all the serial killer movies, just most of them.

Two recent ones I did enjoy and are on my must buy the dvd list are:
"Interview With a Vampire"
&
"Queen of The Damned"

Late nights on Foxtel they are running the "Forever Night" series which I am enjopying again.

Most Pagans have a different and oft a more practical view of possession and excorcism that the Roman Catholic Church. However I have had the privilage when living the Weatern Australia to assist a good friend who was a Jesuit and an Exorcist in several exorcisms. In some ways we taught each other our different techniques in the years following.

I, too, can not remember the actual name of it either. All I know is that it was not called Dracula, lol. I just wish I could remember who played the lead role, that would make finding it so much easier. For some reason, I keep thinking it was George something, but I know that is not right.

Interview with a Vampire was interesting, though I enjoyed the book much more. I will give credit though, it very closely followed the book. I was very pleasantly surprised with Queen of the Damned. I watched it, not expecting to like it at all, and was very nicely surprised. They did an excellent job on that.

You have to admitt that the lass who stared in Queen of the Damned (Alaya dec), would have looked great in a collar.. Definately a red silk if not a pure pleasure slave.... Ohh well one can but dream and drool at the immages.....

Yeah, but you're not the only one. I've got several shelves in my library filled with true murder/serial killer crime books. Oddly enough, though I know a bit about Ed Gein, I've never actually read his story. I should do that.

Oh... one really messed up, weird movie - The Devil's Rejects. Master and I watched it last weekend.

I thought Queen of the Damned was one of the WORST films I've ever seen. It bore very little resemblance to the book, which was one of the BEST Anne Rice books I've read.
