People seem to be viewing fewer expectations as a negative idea as if lower expectation leads to a less industrious and productive life a less happy life. Hogwash expectation is the bane of our lives and the less you have the better off you will be. The truth of life is we have no right to expect anything yet we have been bombarded by advertising to say we can we have the right to have it all, and we have swallowed it hook line and sinker. A simple practical test if you were told tomorrow you had a month to live how many of your expectations would really mean a darn thing, I suspect very few. And how much time would you feel you had wasted, determined to only settle for what expectation determined you had the right to have, because after all most of us have the expectation we will live long lives. Don’t have expectations live life for the now enjoy the moment see where life leads and have the courage to follow it. Treasure the good, learn from bad most of all don’t sit on the sideline awaiting that perfection your expectation says your entitled to get in the game and enjoy.

Having only gotten through the first post and finding interest in the deconstruction of human happiness, I was reminded of this.

I can see where you are going with this one.  I have to say that I agree with you on the point as a philosophical debate, however I disagree with you on the reality of it for a few very valid reasons.

1.  If nothing is expected of you, then you will not be living up to your fullest potential.
2.  If little is expected of you, you will not grow as a submissive.
3.  If too much is expected of you, you will most certainly fail at something.
4.  If the right amount is expected of you, then you will both be more contented by the situation.  Him by your servitude to him, and you by knowing you honor him by your submission. 

Without service, there is no submission.  Without submission, there is no service.
