Has anyone used these and saved or is this a scam?

I have used killowatt to measure items as to what they use- so that gadget IS worth it. ($20)  But this one- why wouldnt the appliance itself regulate its usage ? Isnt that what UL listed means???

Sounds like bollocks to me but you can give it a try and then sue them after proving it didn't reduce your bill by 35%. easy to prove in a court of law.

Better still open it up and check out the components then compare it to the components in one of those plug in air fresheners.

I don't understand the "UL listed" comment.  Underwriters Laboratories does in fact test electrical devices, but only for safety, not for effectiveness.

Frankly, I wouldn't buy something that has such a piss-poor description.  And there ius no legal recourse if the selling entity is Chinese.

I'd buy it then I'd plug it into my friends power outlet and tell her it looks like one of those government spying devices, I’ve heard about.

Even better if the LEDS flash, greater realism.

Also you'll be glad to know the rated Coltage is 90 Horsepower.

I don't know about those... but I have switched out my thermostat for a programmable one. Keeping the house cooler during the times when we're not home, and hotter in the summer daytime when we're at work. The savings there seems to have paid back the cost of purchasing it already... Another thing you can do is to put appliance timers on things like your TV set, your computer monitor, and and other units that draw power even while they are "off". From one in the morning until about five am, most of those things are cut off completely. Again, it's just a little something to help cut down the draw.

Now you are talking my language MarsBonfire a lot of people don't realise sadly that saving co2 and saving money go hand in hand. It's amazing how much we can save just by not leaving things on standby.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882715001&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Electronic+Gadgets-_-P3+International-_-82715001    This gadget was useful.  I was surprised to see what my TV used.   Alot of things draw power simply by being plugged in.

The device on eBay that you shared with us seems to be increasing the power factor of the electricity coming into your home. I'm guessing it's a more "consumerized" version of similar devices being sold by other companies, such as from The Power-Save. The pages on The Power-Save page explain the concept of improving the power factor.

I cannot speak to this concept of improving the power factor; I'm not an electrical engineer. However, based upon how the products from The Power-Save are built as compared to the device from the eBay vendor, I would say the latter is a rip-off, in my opinion. It just doesn't seem possible that a non-grounded device that's about the size of an AC adaptor wall-wart is capable of storing excess electricity in a safe manner.

UL listing means it's been researched and it has met a set of (safety) criterion...none of which means it saves energy.

Save the 9 bucks...turn your stuff off.

Maybe you could  set them up.  If a defective item is shipped into a State, usually a long arm statute will allow you to sue in your State.  Sue for a bunch. (Be creative, maybe it caused whiplash?)  In Michigan if you get a judge who follows the law about defaults, when the default is entered they are in trouble and at the very least  will  have to buy themselves out.  If they let it go to judgment, find a checking account in any  State (full faith and credit) and take the cash or be waiting at the dock for a load of their better merchandise and execute against the load.
