I have a BA in history. I do get job interviews because of that magical piece of paper. But I haven't applied my knowledge of history toward anything that pays money. I'm not resentful; college is not a vocational school. I did actually learn a few things, and I had a great time. I've considered graduate school; I consider it every year. But I always make excuses not to do it. I would never tell someone to not get further education. You're not getting any younger, and let's face it.....college is fun. You can network there, and you can meet a lot of interesting people. I say go for it.

MBA translates to Must Be an Asshole Also a requirement for receiving million dollar bonuses in bailout money. (I'll bet that over 50% have MBAs.) When I was in graduate school in chemistry at Dartmouth over 20 years ago (oh god, has it been that long???), I got to meet a few of the students attending Tuck- a highly regarded MBA program. I wasn't real fond of them and neither were most of my classmates. We found them supremely arrogant, cocksure individuals who made simple things like a Monte Carlo simulation sound impressive. From my perspective- the coursework looked pretty easy. I also agree with a previous poster that there are really only 2 dozen or so MBA programs that are worth your time and will help advance a career- the lower ranked schools don't seem to do a lot. Business school isn't about learning- it's about forming a network that will move you up a career ladder. Since the curricula is often similar at schools ranked at the top or bottom- this provides another data point that it's the networks that matter. Sam
