We need Domme inflation! Lets follow the central bank example and start stamping out Domme by the trillion. Pretty soon they will all be worthless just like the dollar is going to be.

*end of rant*

ok its DOMINA, not Domme like Mommy--oy--and any Domina worth Her salt is the  One who rules--single, double or multiple, what's the point here?

edited to add, Domina is My preference, what I was taught---yeah I know its not everyone's kink--apologies for the uncouched outburst.

Huh? Domme is pronounced the same as Dom.

Domina is nice, though.

shows the variances in the "life", I usually hear Domme pronounced as "Dom-may" or "Dom--mie"--seldom Dom ( with the silent me)--

smiles, I learn something new everyday.

DesFIP -> RE: its a question of numbers (3/19/2009 8:02:12 AM)

Not all dommes are poly. Some want a monogamous life with a family, the only difference being she makes the decisions.

But seeking compatibility and happiness in a relationship does not equal topping from the bottom in my book. Just because a domme in your area considers you doesn't mean you have to agree. If she's big on forced bi, and that's a hard limit for you, then you aren't compatible.

Missokyst -> RE: its a question of numbers (3/19/2009 9:31:37 AM)

Clearly you must not live in northern Ca... around here there are many of female dominants.  Finding a sub vs finding a bottom is their most challenging task.
Up further north where I am, its common to find fem doms, not so common to find male doms.  LOL and still.. I would rather be alone than share with someone who needed a stable, or to flip over to the bi side for a female.  <<shudder>>

Which is precisely why I switch my contract payments from US$ to Euros.... Does this mean I should have my ursine earse tuned towards Europe and not the US for likely slave material? Not sure but like all Bears,  I'll figure it out....

D'you know that up until this post I've always read "Domme" just he same as I read "Dom".  It never occured to me that the "me" would have a sound (just like Anne is Ann not Annie).  clear as mud, right?

although some subs do not desire to share, it is ultimately the choice of the Domme.

then its the subs choice if they want that relationship, maybe its my newbie ways but i think bdsm is about enjoying a consenual relationship not throwing someone on a pedistol who may or not respect my needs and wants.

No its not your newbie ways :)  Yes ultimately it is the choice of the Dominant person in a given relationship, whether or not they are going to one or many to serve them. However, it then becomes the submissive's choice as to if that is something they can deal with.   And if the sub can't deal, then they must part ways with their Dominant.

The submissive CAN leave if they only want a one on one relationship and the Dominant does not. I did. Of course this should be discussed before a serious, emotional bond is created, but sometimes, people lie and led you to believe that one is going on, when its something completly different.

kdsub -> RE: its a question of numbers (3/19/2009 4:55:46 PM)

You have to realize most are not truly submissive... they just think it is a way to see some hot pictures and if the get lucky a little ass... They just play the role they don't mean it... Not me of course...[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m16.gif[/image]

stella41b -> RE: its a question of numbers (3/19/2009 6:45:14 PM)

It's a question of numbers? Yes it is, but you are still only looking for one person at a time.

littlesarbonn -> RE: its a question of numbers (3/19/2009 7:35:13 PM)

Numbers mean nothing when not all submissives are equal in what they have to offer. If you're a generic submissive, sure, numbers mean nothing, but that just means don't be a generic submissive. I've had occasions where a dominant woman has told me (in the courting stage) that she has so many men after her that she can pick and choose, and that I somehow have to "impress her". If I can't impress her by being me, then she's better off with those "many" other men that she can pick and choose from.

Finding a partner really isn't that hard if you have a bit of confidence in yourself, are in a location where dominants actually live, and are willing to open yourself up to all of the possibilities.

Who pronounces it "dommie" or "dommay"?? I've never heard it pronounced that way. Do they also pronounce femme as "femmie" or "femmay"?

From wiki (not the best source but it explains why I've always assumed the e is silent, as in femme):

The term "domme" (pronounced /ˈdom/) is a coined pseudo-French female variation of the slang dom (short for dominant). It stems from the Latin words "dominus" = master, "domina" = mistress. The pronunciation is identical to the term "dom", by analogy to one-syllable French-derived words like femme or blonde.

Domina is lovely, though. And I've always liked your posts, CatDeMedici.

:o)
