I'm going to add my voice to those saying "call the gas company."  Do it now.  I'll bet you a dollar they have a 24/7 number for reporting it.

My impression of the landlord telling you it is normal is that he places his money above your safety and well-being, and that of your neighbors as well, in which case they are not decent people, they are scum, putting on an act.

If you like these people get ready for them not to like you.

Fire Code in ALL 50 STATES requires a Smoke Alarm PER apartment. If it is a Rental Property Hotel/Motel Style they are required to have a fire extinguisher per every 3 (Or 5, our landords thought it was 5) apartments located in a conspicuous place. If it is a Rental for Monthly only then they do not HAVE to because you are expected too.

Any and ALL gas leaks or believed gas leaks they are required to look into it with 72 hours of the complain (24 in some states) and Yes if you call the Gas company they will tell your landlord who called.

If you do not want to cause waves I would suggest that you get renters insurance for the MAXIMUM amount and just Prey you are not home when something goes horribly wrong.

Yeah, if you get $50k renters insurance and ,....."something were to happen",....(ahem) you'd get all new stuff!

lol, i move a lot. i'm in arkansas for now, i'll be in kansas next month. 'hopefully in oklahoma before the end of the year. my profile is left to korea to keep nosy family out of my business. never had trouble with our gas in korea, amazing how you can do so much without knowing a language... oh goodness.[&:]

i've got all the windows open. i have smoked, lit incense and candles, and cooked all this time (sence the first time i asked about the smell), and i'm pretty sure it's something to do with the pilot light because now two of the burners aren't coming lighting up. and i'm going to have the manager look at it again in the morning, if that doesn't fix it, i'll call the gas company myself.[&o]

i am living in a motel/apartment complex. my appartment often smells strongly of gas from the stove, even when the stove is off.

Yeah, sorry about that, I asked on a forum how to fix gas stoves, and got conflicting advice. It should hold though, for now, I got some duct tape shipping in, and I'm going to encase that leaky gas pipe in this concrete I got. That should do it.

It's worth a try, your health (and that of your neighbours) may be at risk.

I see your in Korea and I have no idea of the legal requirements for tenanted property is over there.

I work in Real Estate in the UK and can only go by the UK guidlines which probably don't apply in your situation.

I agree with everyone's common sense advise, especially slaveboy... go and buy yourself a smoke and cm detector and make sure they are positioned in the right place. Remember that CM is the silent killer because you can't smell it. For what these things cost, I wouldn't bother trying to take it out of next months rent if its going to cause animosity.
In the UK a landlord is under no obligation to provide a tenant with a CM detector and in houses they don't need to provide a smoke detector either but once installed they are under obligation to keep it in good working order.

Fast reply~

When I was staying with my ex's mom at her place, her house smelled REALLY bad of gas one day.  I got worried.  But the only reason that it was like that, is because the tanks that she had were running low.  I would call the gas company, and just have them check it out.  Might be something simple.  But it might be something bad.

Uhm... am I the only person who looked at the OP's profile?  She says she is in Korea.  I doubt any laws from any of the 50 states would apply there.

Nope you aren't.  I assumed the OP's dom is military.  The OP says she is beholden to one man, so I assume this is her hubbie.  She also claims an extra slavegirl, so I assume the said slavegirl is online or has manged to come to the OP under the radar of the U.S. military.  Of course the OP may have moved back since her posting in Korea.  Which would mean that he can live off base without the scrutinization of military officials.  Of course, the OP says her career requires her moving around a lot.  So maybe they are circus performers.  Who knows?

very smart slave boy you are. yes we are flying under military radar. and well avoiding family radar as much as possible too.
