Ohhh trust me, as a female who has failed to be initiated or welcomed into many many womens groups, they have just as much, if not more vicious methods of hazing and intiation as males do. Like most female methods though, they tend to be far more passive, mentally manipulative and subtle.

They say the devils best trick was convincing people he didn't exist. I think females best trick is convincing the world they are the "sweeter sex."

It is not always subtle with some women either, that's for sure!

Some *sorority* hazing has led to pledges being killed. Don't get me wrong -- I know that fraternity hazing has led to people being killed as well. Disgusting.

< laughs> Maybe the female sex has convinced men of that, but we know what we are really capable of!
ETA: But I wonder if there is a difference? The situations you mention seem to be based on the ‘ladies’ excluding some one. What has been suggested in this thread is that hazing is more intended to include someone.

Personally I am in principle against much of the hazing which I see as different to initiation rites where the applicant is tested under psychologically difficult situations.
