pahunkboy -> how is the dude "marshal" (3/13/2009 7:52:08 AM)
I keep hearing the term "Martial law". WHo is the man that it is named after, and when did he live in history?

(Marcus Valerius Martialis[image]http://cache.lexico.com/dictionary/graphics/luna/thinsp.png[/image]) a.d. 43?–104?, Roman epigrammatist, born in Spain.
In the case of "Martial Law" it is refering to laws of war or the military. Mars was the god of war. It is laws imposed with a force of arms, rather ones own military or someone else's military.

Hi pahunkboy...I've missed you.
I wonder if John Marshall is the one you are looking for.

Thank you so much! It is great to be back. :-)
I know I sound pessimistic, but I am confident that there will be some good out of the next several years. The crowd here talks about a variety of topics and is pretty smart. So I missed the mental stimulation as well. :-)
