This is the most weirdly fascinating thing you will see for ages.  Whether you are a fan or a detractor of the new American President, you must - and I stress must - visit this site.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  http://www.badpaintingsofbarackobama.com/

Actually, some of that work is a  pretty flattering representation of the man.  He is an attractive guy with very strong features.

I liked the one by Jo Lynch (?). I also liked the little one with the yellow aura and the green and burgundy diagonals in the background.

From a postmodern, post-Warholesque point of view, it's fascinating.

How a President is portrayed in pop culture often gives you some clues to how the world and history itself will percieve him down the road. From what I understand, buying a MIB copy of the George Bush action figure (The one with the flight suit "costume" he wore when he landed on the USS Lincon) is getting to be a bit pricy on ebay... It's being called the ultimate ironic toy of his presidency.

By contrast, the same company is preparing to release the first edition of the Obama action figure. Currently, they are stating on their website, that they will be having delays in getting them out, since the backorder demand from around the world is so great. They are estimating that in the first year, sales will be five times what Bush got through his entire run. And that's just the first version... They are actually considering marketing an Oval Office Playset. (!)
Makes me wonder... maybe they'll re-release the Bush doll then... with he and Cheany as supervillans.

Correction MarsBonfire,

He had himself landed... George Bush Jr. did not have the ability to land on a carrier.
The pilot could of landed anything that would fit into the rear seat of his jet on that carrier.

Bush Jr's landing was as deliberately misleading as the "Mission Accomplished" banner he so
proudly stood under.

Yes, but I see his eyes as warmer than these. Most do appeal but some are a little cold.

There is a certain point in the fame process where a persons image moves into the public domain.

A few portraits looked more like The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, than Barack.  The Rock is starring in a new movie this week, "Escape to Witch Mountain."  Perhaps, with the deepening financial crisis, that should be a question we should all be asking ourselves:  escape to which mountain?

Thanks for the interesting link.

He is now.

He won what 50something % of the vote yet...100% of the white house ? He's had a few hiccups but so the fuck what...W so lowered the bar...and he could be good...real good. So let's give the man a chance for crying out loud.

I'm intrigued that a couple of artists have painted Obama with a third eye.  Like a cross between Gandhi and Bagger Vance.  And of course, there's the one with the taco for a hat.  People are just really strange.

That's not as interesting for me as the photos of him WITH OTHERS.  A bunch of old white dudes all wearing suits and ties, and this young black guy in their midst.  Startling contrast, especially when you realize he's the one in charge.
