QuixoticErrant -> BDSM groups question. (3/4/2009 5:12:25 AM)

I recieved a mail from a submissive that mentioned a BDSM assosciation in Easton MD.  I don't get out that way that much, I really don't know.  She went on about contacting a hotmail account and her member number being some such and I should contact these people to secure her.  I am new to the online scene, but my this don't look right meter went off scale.   Obviously, I don't think this is legit, but is there any chance at all that this (or something like it) is on the up and up?

Of the BDSM munch groups I've belonged to, none of them have ever assigned me a number or required anyone contact them in order to "secure" me.  Now, if your question is:  "Are there legitimate pay sites where I can get online service for a fee?"  the answer would be "yes"  Or if your question is: "Can I get a professional slave, for a fee, though the internet"?  the answer would also be "yes"  Prostitution is an actual business and a legitimate business albeit an illegal one in most areas.

Yeah that would sum up what I've been thinking.  I was looking for a 1% chance or less that this was some form of referencing.

LOL - Easton is a sleepy little town  - I'm sure they'd be startled to hear there is a BDSM association in their midst. Sounds like your meter is functioning well :)

I'm a Marylander and haven't heard of any such organization (And while I don't tend to participate, I do tend to try to keep peripherally upto date on what's going on organizationally).  Have you looked into BESS or BR if you're in MD (Haven't perved your profile yet but I will).  :>

Some of the organizations that I've belonged to gave me a membership number, but it was never used except when renewing the membership through the club.  The only other thing I can think of that might be even remotely legit is if it is some kind of slave auction or something similar.  Sounds fishy to me.

I just got another mail from "her." After reading the broken English, and seeing certain other details that made no sense, I am now certain that it was fishy.

Yup, I have to agree. The reply is too strong. Put another way, if the ideas are too perfect but the grammer is too imperfect then it really means something isn't right.
But it just seems that CM is "scam central"--so many of the e-mails that I get end up with conversations involving "send a check" or "pay for my webcam." Is this a new trend? Is it the economy?

Have her mail you in Yahoo or MSN, then check the originating IP address. I'll bet you it is in Nigeria or Ghana. I had something similar recently, seemingly out of London.

No, it is not the economy. The amount of spam that has to be sent to get reasonable returns is getting very large, so the scammers have turned to the personal approach, a mix of ID theft and trying to con you out of money, people, unbelievably, keep falling for this. It's been going on, increasingly, for a couple of years.

sblady -> RE: BDSM groups question. (3/17/2009 6:14:03 PM)

The scammers must have realized the Doms are aware of them, so now they're picking on submissives.

I usually respond with "you're too skinny for me" as the male is 6'4 and 74 pounds.  Or the female is 6'1, weighing 68 pounds and would like to leave all her money to me because she's dying.  She would only require pertinent information.  I told her to go peacefully with God and reported her e-mails.  [sm=paddle.gif]
