There are some here who say that these political postings do no good. They claim that all they are is a bunch of people talking past each other and that no one will sway another's ideas in the least iota. In short, and often in so many words, they say that these political discussions have no real effect or purpose. I am here to tell you this is not true. Since I began weighing in on the issues brought up on this board, the little icon that appears in each post has turned from a vanilla ice cream cone to a really neat looking pair of handcuffs. This is definite, tangible proof of progress and makes me feel pretty damned proud of myself. I hope in the future to progress to two pair of handcuffs, the array of paddles and beyond. How can any say that these discussions don't bear fruit?

Have you considered Polls and Random Stupidity, Spinner? There are some good people who hang out down there, and you'll have those paddles in no time. Maybe even some new friends. It's as easy as saying "I win," and going with the flow. Much better odds of not drawing too much attention from the eleventh floor while building up ye olde poste counte.

That little icon shows how many posts you have made. It doesn't say if the posts were relevent or intelligent, just that you spent a few minutes at your keyboard typing. Not sure how that shows what fruit the discussions produce, but the icons are cute.

The icon was just a side benefit and this thread a bit of humor.

Spinner, besides just feeding your obvious fetish for handcuffs, (hey, to each their own)lol, I would actually disagree that the political postings have no actual value. If nothing else, as a rare poster to political posts, but avid reader of those political opinions, it does give you some insight into what a broad spectrum of folks actually are thinking. Does it sway anything, hmmm, probably not, but just like a themometer can give an indication of a persons condition, the ramblings can provide an indication of the country/world/political condition without being filtered out by talking heads of the media. Certainly it all needs taken with a grain of salt, but who knows, maybe seeing a lot of clouds on the horizon could make a body brace for a storm in many cases. By the way, congrats on getting rid of that nasty ice cream cone...lol

There are many fourms people can post on if they would like to avoid politics, there's a reason this fourm is called "off topic" because it's for posts not pertaining to wiiwd.
