WASHINGTON (AP) — Tell us, Robert Gates, what's the difference between working under Barack Obama and working under George W. Bush?

That sounds like the subject of a good book," Gates said with a smile.
"It's really hard to say," he continued during an interview aired Sunday on "Meet the Press" on NBC.

"I think that probably President Obama is somewhat more analytical. And he makes sure he hears from everybody in the room on an issue. And if they don't speak up, he calls on them."

This is a good sign.

Would be great if Obama was working in one of those CIA cubicles.  Show me an analyst and I'll show you someone who reports to a boss or leader.

I would have been more reassured if Gates had said that Obama was more calculating and "flexible", you know, like our enemies.

We could be in a position some day where Obama will not have time to do what he can do these days...bring in a bunch of "experts"...multi-task them to study the issue and come back in a week with a well thought out plan....for "analysis".  It's not like planning a political campaign...he may get that call that for which Hillary was mocked at 3:00 A.M. in the morning and "have to make a decision".  The question is can Obama make a "command decision" something he has never had to do?  I dunno..Maybe in Chicago they can take advantage of being an hour behind Washington's time zone, but ..I just don't know what to expect he will in "real time".

Please Cory,if Gates had used those very words,had plainly said calculating and flexible....you would have simply moved the goal post to another phrase or choice of words that you claim would allow you to rest easy.

I sure do not agree with all of Obama's positions.  But I like his style.  His decision making style, and the way that he relates to others.

AMAZING! You believe and trust a 'Republican' source and use it as a reference of this Administration's validity? The same source you point to for all the problems, ills, and issues facing the country? It suits you now to selectively believe this as fact? Talk about grasping at straws in the face of insecurity.

Obviously, like everything else Republican from your vantage point, it must be bullshit and agenda based! Maybe after he's done building "de-fence" (sic) maybe he's lobbying to get a bail-out or entitlement to pay for painting it.

Someone's thoughts, as opposed to results, are not a cause for me to assign 'good news' or 'bad news' status. Is there really a need to provide references where that isn't the case with you?

Me - it's all about the results and plan; party line isn't a pre-requisite for agreement or translation need. At this point, there is no distinction between political parties. Obviously President Obama and his predecessor share the same beliefs concerning paying out 'stimulus' money to failures. I disagreed with both of them and think their actions have no pragmatic path for success as I define it. I'll stipulate and believe that Bush and Obama also share a common definition of "success" which I don't share. They must, or why else would we still have troops in Iraq, why pay out an additional Trillion dollars when the first $400 Billion failed, why share the same compassion and need to pay more into a failed operation such as AIG? Me - I don't think any of those things are "good news" - you do?

Well as I said - "Good for you, 59!" All it took for you to support President Bush's policies and ideals was for them to be put forth by a Democrat - President Obama. I need more than party affiliation to be convinced.  

I thought "liberal" had been replaced by 'progressive'? Is that one of the Obama's "CHANGE!"s?
