You have never heard of the National Alert Registry and the Megan's Law Reports?

I wish I thought there was a chance in hell they would spend some ink printing criminals. This week they could do child molesters, next week muggers.....
Nah, the ACLU would twist that into an invasion of privacy.

So they want to break into a house where the residents are armed? Only if they are targeting to steal guns, but there are easier ways to aquire illegal handguns.

As far as the OP goes, I see no problem with this. Maybe they should allow people the chance to send a pic in of themselves so people can recognize us better.

Welcome to the 21st century... where "privacy" is a myth.

BTW, wouldn't having other people know you're packin' actually make you a MORE formidable opponent? I mean, isn't that the whole point?
Also makes your home a target for a break in.
They need to know your going out of town, and they have a good probability of getting weapons at that house!
Good going there newspapers , always willing to help out the criminal element .

Of course. I just haven't heard of this liberal Memphis fishwrapper printing lists of criminals, or, say, welfare recipients, the way they printed a list of law-abiding citizens whose actions prove disagreement with one of their political posistions.
BTW, the ACLU was very opposed to both the NAR and Megan's Law. Still is.

I know 3 people with CCWs. 2 are women that have been brutalized and carry to take back some of their power and 1 is a business person that often carries large sums of money and jewels.

IMO they are 'concealed' for a purpose and yes the information is there is someone goes to the trouble to seek it out, but this just hands the information out. That is part of what bothers me about this, I think the majority of CCW carriers (sorry if that is redundant) do not carry for the intent of committing crimes, but for the prevention of crimes being perpetrated against themselves.

HOW, explain that . The bad guys have to get them from somewhere.

I don't see the point to the database, but I don't think it will really hurt anyone. As long as they don't list addresses and phone numbers, they should be safe. I can see women getting upset if they lie about their age because they do list the birthyear  I am kinda curious as to the point of the thing. I understand the sex offenders database, in fact I found my old boss on there, but that one is to warn you if a pervert is in the neighborhood. What does this one do? What does it prove to anyone and why would they need this info?

Even I could find an illegal gun without resorting to breaking into someones house.

I used to live halfway between Flint Michigan and Detroit Michigan, both cities have street guns for sale.

Was that a genuine question btw? It seems amazing to me, that someone wouldn't know that guns for sale exist on the streets by criminals and people simply selling their guns for needed cash.

Well, certainly guns are for sale "on the street", and quite legally at that. Our weekly "sale paper" has a separate section for people wanting to sell firearms. All of which is completely beside the point.
It is undeniable that publishing this list makes it just a little easier for criminals to know where to go to steal guns.
Has anyone tried yet to explain the reason the fishwrapper printed the list?

Yes I did. The second link in the OP is the paper's explaination.
I also said that in my second post in this thread.

I think a discussion is more interesting when both sides are represented.
Then everyone can make up their own minds.

I think the paper was out of line even though it is a public record.  Have you ever tried to go find something in a public record?  Next to impossible.  The paper was just trying to make a statement...and  of course it was the wrong one.

Please accept my apology, outlier.
The fishwrapper said:
"But there is one overriding, enduring reason the permit-to-carry list needs to be public. Once a concealed weapon is pulled out at a shopping center, a hospital or a business, what happens next with that gun becomes a matter of public concern to everyone.
That's why commercialappeal.com posted the list. It's a tiny bit of local information, and we're in that business of gathering and distributing local information."

I should have asked if anyone had tried to give a coherent reason for printing the list.
Other than the obvious one of trying to make trouble of whatever kind for the CCW holders.
