Well, it has started off as one ofTHOSE months!

Darling daughter broke her wrist last month, and I swear puberty set in that very day or she has started pushing her Domme daughter genes out! She has been a real kicker to say the least.
The other half of my equation has started the night shift for the next few months, til they rotate again...sighs, which means it's time to hit the side drawer again...lol.
And the 2 mini monsters are going to get a dog soon, lord knows what but we are working on it.

and... last but not least. sighs, My girl finished her business studies and is now working on her bookkeeping section... I am so proud of her!

Oooh, happy birthday Miss Morrigan!

This month will be my birthday too. It luckily falls during Mistress' spring break, so there will be much partying and merriment...or at least as much as we can afford on our meager budget.

Still looking for a job after two months, but I have found a temporary source of income: selling plasma! It hurts like a bitch, but I get 40 bucks a batch.

MaamJay -> RE: March Roll Call (3/7/2009 6:31:00 PM)

Things so busy here I've only just got to this thread! Happy Bday Miss Morrigan and all the very best for the surgery!

Not sure We'd recognise Jewel under all that protective gear but a pic would be good! Have fun Jewel and just try to stay upright!

It seems many are having ups and downs, and I'm no exception.

UPS
The house is sold, settlement should be this Monday, but We can stay here free of charge till mid-May (for taking a lesser price). This gives Us the $$ to buy the fabulous 5th wheeler van We found 2 weeks ago, plus the Chevy Silverado ute to pull it. So hopefully We'll get to pick that up in a week or two and will also sell off both Our existing cars to fund the changes We want with the van. And We've found a cluey local guy who can do that work for Us. For all you in the USA, the van is a 33 foot Canyon Trail by Gulf Stream with 2 slideouts, one in the bunkhouse which will soon be transformed into My study/craft space/guitar storage area, the other for the lounge/dining area. This one even has a second bathroom at the back which will be very handy (Master and I are so in synch that We often need to go to the toilet at the same time!). Also a great spot for the cat's litter tray and to confine the pets if needed while We are out a gig. The Chevy is a long wheel base with a towing package fitted, so there will be room immediately behind the dual cab (and in front of the 5th wheeler hitch) for a box in which to store all the heavy PA gear. That will be a better load distribution than Our first thought of putting it at the back of the van, and also minimises handling as We'd take the Chevy to the gig, having parked the van. So all that is great!

DOWNS
Last weekend We travelled to do some very well-paid gigs, were away 4 days in all. We left 2 healthy happy westies who would be turning 10 in May (westies usually live to 12-14) and one slightly cranky deaf 20yo cat. On the first night, Our boy westie, Teddy Bear, happily ate his dinner, then asked Our sitter to let him out urgently to toilet. Next minute, he was frothing and collapsing! She first thought "poisonous cane toad" but there were none near him and the poison doesn't act that fast. He's picked them up before, We've yelled at him to "Drop it!" then brought him in and washed his mouth out with soap and water and no ill effect. She rushed him to the vet but he was pretty far gone when they got there and he never recovered, despite the vet staying up with him all night. He died at 5am, at exactly the time when I was awake in the motel about 300km away feeling the room go dim and sensing he had passed. A terrible shock for Us all, so totally unexpected, absolutely no prior symptoms. The vet thinks it was a massive stroke, most likely an aneurysm bursting. If it had been the cat, there would have been sorrow but no real surprise, and even Magic (Teddy's sister) had 2 ops in Dec/Jan, so while she has made an apparently full recovery, there would have been less shock had something else gone wrong. But Ted was the vibrant happy full of life one, he greeted every day with enthusiasm. Amazing how HUGE a hole one small dog leaves behind. Both Master and I are missing him badly, as Master said, We've not only lost Ted, We've lost "them". And as Magic is Daddy's girl and Ted was Mommy's boy, My armchair and lap are feeling very lonely and empty. We can't really bury him here as We've sold the house, so have arranged a cremation. While I know he would have relished the new travelling life We are soon to start ... he'll just have to come along in his little polished wooden box. Not quite the same [:(]

I am sure there are those out there thinking "So what, it's just a dog!" but those of you who have pets will understand I'm sure. Besides, all the best lessons in life are learned from dogs aren't they? [;)]

Hope everyone else gets through March well. Can't say We're looking forward to all the sorting and packing that has to be done before We embark on Our adventure, so if I don't make the April/May roll calls, don't be too surprised!

MsCfromMelbourne -> RE: March Roll Call (3/7/2009 6:48:01 PM)

Oh Maam Jay, I am so sorry to hear about Ted's untimely passing.  10 is far too young for a Westie.  We have a michievous sweet little Cairn, Tom,  and can understand how devastating it is to lose a dog.

My life has been chaotic (what's new) being back at work and looking after my delightful baby....who is not a baby anymore.  She turns ONE on Tuesday :)  It feels like only yesterday I was stuck at home 9 months pregnant, as big as a house, with nothing to do but post prolifically in Ask  A Mistress :)    A whole YEAR has whizzed by in a blur of sleep deprivation and sore boobs :)

Kinky life feels like a distant fond memory at the moment.  I think its like this for all new parents, right?  And this too shall pass, right?  Goddess, I hope so......

Happy Birthday MM.

Hi.

This month we're busy answering emails from women that read the HeadMistress's interview Scarlet Magazine did on Her. Because She told the magazine She tutors women for free we've been getting so many emails about it. But hey it's a good busy. I wonder if guys read that magazine too? I guess we'll find out.

MsEmpwr2 -> RE: March Roll Call (3/7/2009 11:04:50 PM)

March is here! Yippee! It has been pretty crazy weather here in Central florida but I was so excited today when it was WARM and SUNNY! (doing a happy happy sun dance).

My life is going well. March is the month of celebration for my family with lots of birthdays, my anniversary (9 years), and the end of Girl Scout Cookie Season! LOL

On the leather front, things are pretty okay.

I guess I am checked in. Nothing too exciting.
Thanks,
Celeste

PanthersMom -> RE: March Roll Call (3/8/2009 2:16:54 PM)

Happy Birthday to MM and aidan and anyone else having birthdays this month, mine's next saturday, i'll be 45.  mom keeps saying i can't possibly be that old, lol.

as many of you know i have one bilogical son with multiple handicaps and three adopted african american sons, also with special needs.  it's been hectic, dealing with learning disabilities, cognitive delays, behavioual issues and the like.  All three of my younger boys were drug exposed in utero, just at different developmental stages by different things.  we had to admit son#3 to residential treatment for severe behavioral problems brought on by the brain damage his being born addicted to cocaine did to him.  so it's been a fun start to the month, but he's apparently adjusting ok.  mom here has been an emotional wreck.

the left foot is still attached at this point, so that's good news.  had to stop hyperbaric therapy due to scheduling conflicts with my doctor and the treatments, but once we get that ironed out, i'll be back in the tube.  maybe they'll book me in the new one they're currently installing.   cub's working on his race cars, the chevelle and the vega.  the 74 vega is strictly drag strip.  i'm really looking forward to seeing it run.  hurry up spring!!!

took up a new hobby, something i've wanted to do since i was a kid.  i'm target shooting.  finally got a gun and cub taught me to shoot, being ex military he's pretty damn good, but i got two bullseyes with a 9mm semi-auto.  that was fun!!!!  he was teasing me about picturing my ex on the target.  "i miss my ex, but my aim is getting better!"  we're both going to get our concealed carry permits.  yes, we have a gun safe.

so, i'm on spring break.   everyone's gone, thought i'd jump in and relax with friends today.  i hope all of you have a wonderful month and that we're all much happier in april!

SweetDommes -> RE: March Roll Call (3/10/2009 7:49:10 PM)

Well, my month is kind of going downhill.  I spent over an hour at the vet this afternoon with Ray because Havoc ripped up his foot (one of these days, Ray will learn not to snap at Havoc - he always loses).  [:(]

SweetDommes -> RE: March Roll Call (3/11/2009 6:34:24 AM)

I just HAD to come post a little update.  Ray had to spend the night at the vet because of his foot (they wanted him to wake up from the anesthesia away from Havoc).  I went and got him this morning, and he promptly tied the knot with Pandi ... LMAO  He's apparently feeling just fine now.

ShiftedJewel -> RE: March Roll Call (3/11/2009 7:51:40 AM)

Update for me and mine here... Scooter and I are no longer a poly family. I'm not going to air my laundry here, I'll simply say that twice took off one day while we were gone and everything that has occured since then has caused us to make that decision. Most likely you won't be hearing much from me and mine anymore.

But I did want to tell you all that it has been wonderful being a part of this little family and thank you for having me!!

Jewel

LadyPact -> RE: March Roll Call (3/11/2009 7:53:36 AM)

Oh, Jewel.  I'm so sorry to hear it.  Anytime you need Me.  Anytime at all......

Jewel, I am sorry you've had a rough time of it.

MissMorrigan -> RE: March Roll Call (3/11/2009 3:33:27 PM)

I'm glad I had seen this thread pop up again as I'd overlooked it.

Madame4a - It sounds as if you had a very rough period for a while and it's great you both have managed to come through it stronger. I tend to find that it's when I am down and life hits a very rough patch, rather than give in to it I come out fighting and when I do is the time I discover a whole new perspective opening me up to wonderful opportunities. Good luck to you all.

Jewel - Thank you for my birthday wishes. I am so sorry you are going through such a painful time. May you draw strength and support from your friends and family, heal in any way you can and please don't disappear from the boards although you have to do what's right for you, of course, and while I can only speak for myself I am sure I'm not alone in saying that your posts have long been an inspiration and hope that we can be there for you in the way you have for so many.

Aidan - Oooh Aidan, thank you! Many Happy Returns of your Special Day, have a great time celebrating. I have an idea... Shakti is an artist, you are a plasma donor and highly photogenic, combine the two and turn that forty bucks into hundreds selling your combined artwork.

MaamJay - thank you for your best wishes. So sorry your Westy Teddy Bear passed away. My mother's dog, Pip, was the apple of her eye, adored him to the extent she moved her husband outta the bedroom as the dog began to see him as a territorial threat. When he passed on she, too, had him cremated and he sits on her bedside cabinet. My mother is rather eccentric, she's taken to including him in his box when introductions are made to people new to her home. I once invited a potential love interest home for the weekend, mother said to him, "Oh, you must meet the dog, but be careful, he's rather vicious, so whatever you do don't attempt to stroke him and keep your hands underneath your armpits". She came back into the room but walking backwards and clearly holding what he thought was a dog, until she turned around and offered the box saying, "Meet Pip!" The guy said it was the sickest thing he'd ever encountered and did a disappearing act David Copperfield would have been proud to exact. A pet is never 'just' anything other than a much loved and frequent companion to someone.

MsC - thank you! You're right, it's just like that for all new parents and congratulations on the little bundle turning one, what a beautiful age. Once you are able to establish a little 'you' time, that natural kinkiness will find a place.

Panthers Mom - Thank you, I missed your birthday so Happy Belated Birthday, I hope you had a cracking time and celebrated in style. You are an inspirational lady and I'm glad to read that your son number three seems to be adjusting well. I hope you have a lot of support, my hat's off to you, truly. Good luck with the target practice, I think once you've perfected that aim some of the gals over on the Polls & Other Random Stupidity forum will be sending you details of some of their exes.

Lady Madusa - It's the most amazing feeling to see one's child accomplish something they've worked hard at, there's no amount of money in the world that could replace that feeling. Here's hoping a speedy recovery for her wrist.

SweetDommes - I once had an old jack russell who thought he was bigger and meaner than any other dog in the world, he often came off worse after a scrap and never learned his lesson. One day I was taking him for a walk, saw no other dogs around so let him off the lead (usually he was a very obedient dog and most of his scraps were caused as a result of him escaping the yard when someone had left the gate open), only for a man with a rottie turn the corner. My jack saw it, launched himself at this brute and I closed my eyes in terror. The commotion was horrendous, I opened my eyes expecting to see the little bugger turn to shreds on the pavement but he had the rottie by the throat in such a way that the other dog couldn't grip him. The poor owner of the other dog was begging me to remove my dog and we spent what seemed an eternity trying to figure out the SAFEST way to do it. Thankfully no serious damage was done to the rottie and mine was never allowed off the leash again. those dogs do wear their injuries like badges of honour.
Diurnal - Congratulations on yours and Fox's engagement.

Chezzy - thank you for your wishes. I had a wonderful day thanks to my Reality - he surprised me by taking the day off from work.

LadyPact - thank you for my birthday & surgery wishes. March in the UK is either a great month for weather or absolutely foul. One year it can be brilliant sunshine, the next snowing and causing havoc with the wildlife. May the powers that be watch over your loved ones and return them safely to you.

MamaDomme - Wishing you a speedy recovery. I'm going to be out of commission for roughly the same amount of time as you before physio can commence, they've suggested a walker for me, but the physiotherapist and I are having stern words over that suggestion. I told Reality that I should be carried everywhere and he replied, "I don't think we'd fit a low flat topped truck into our flat, Miss". Cheeky bugger... he's going to be taking a damn long time shaving those hairs off my legs, all half ao dozen of them!

I wonder if Shatki would let us get in on the act.  Just think.  You could tie him down and I could stick him.  [sm=evil.gif]

Madame4a -> RE: March Roll Call (3/12/2009 5:35:12 AM)

I had to add a little update.. my sort of primary is not having a good go of the new one in my life... we've taken some time to think and hopefully will come to the right place next week.  I do believe its likely to end as I won't put her through putting up with my wanderings and exploration.

I'm sorry to hear of the trials of folks... jewel you're in my thoughts... as are so many others...

I'll admit, despite some of the things going on for me... I'm in very strong and happy space.
