"Young boasted that he "won a victory for the Alaska Native contracting program and other Alaska small business owners last night in H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act."

That's par for the course. The repubs are for party and power and hypocrisy is one their greatest political strengths. There are many who vote for these guys who cheer their opposition to the bill and then run to the money soon as it comes in.

Like I said, same shit on both sides of the aisle, its like the same brand of bread, just one is wheat and one is white.
Oh well, there might be some tax breaks that might be useful, so I should at least read those parts. J

I don't follow the logic.,  Really now,  if the democrat Congress is going to bury bottles of dollars in the sand to create jobs, isn't it common sense for your representative to at least try to return some of the tax money sent by taxpayers in your State to Washington, D.C. and squandered by Pelosi/Reid/Obama,  to the people of your State?  Is that hypocrisy, or common sense??

Keep try`n, cory,keep try`n....

You do know it's over Owner...dontcha?  Our political elite have finally put the nail into the coffin holding the remains of our economy with a stimulus package written by a nutcase from SanFrancisco, a pork eat'n fool from Nevada. A nice young man who has never held a job beyond courtroom experience forcing banks to make sub-prime loans,  is about to sign HR1 into law today....with a big smile and inspiring words, with a pen made in China. Chris Matthews will probably have chills up his leg

Watch the price of Gold today.  Gold is apolitical. It's not democrat nor is it republican.  It's not capitalist or communist.  The price of gold represents what the consensus level of fear is in the world today, and what is the intensity of that fear.

You have a point - Obama SWORE there was no pork in the stimulus package!

Well he must be mistaken.....there was no pork in that bill.

I know this is true cause Obama said so.

Owner59 -> RE: Republicans tout Stim-bill,....they just voted against!! (2/17/2009 6:35:30 AM)

A conservative calling it pork,doesn`t make it so.

To be fair to the President,he didn`t know that bush was going to hand him a ruined economy, during the campaign.This was pretty much a surprise to everyone in the last weeks of a two year long,long drawnout campaign.

Now, the reality of the necessity of a stim bill (b/c of neo-con blundering) has changed things. Hasn`t it?

So,what is he to do now? Nothing?

I think the cons would just love to see no stim effort or a failed stimulus effort(so they could win and be big shots again,ha-ha!) just so to hold Obama to his word.

thishereboi -> RE: Republicans tout Stim-bill,....they just voted against!! (2/17/2009 6:52:00 AM)

He didn't know the country was in financial trouble? Where the hell has he been. This isn't something that just happened.

MasterShake69 -> RE: Republicans tout Stim-bill,....they just voted against!! (2/17/2009 7:01:43 AM)

IT IS PORK
ALASKA ECONOMY IS HEALTHY

http://labor.state.ak.us/trends/

Alaska’s average monthly job count grew by 2,400 in 2008, an increase of 0.7 percent. It was the state’s 21st consecutive year of growth, a streak only four other states can match or exceed.

WASHINGTON — Rep. John Mica was gushing after the House of Representatives voted Friday to pass the big stimulus plan.
I applaud President Obama's recognition that high-speed rail should be part of America's future," the Florida Republican beamed in a press release

It did not say that it should or should NOT be part of the pork bill.
its taken out of context. What else was in his press release?

UncleNasty -> RE: Republicans tout Stim-bill,....they just voted against!! (2/17/2009 9:06:23 AM)

Didn't know Bush was going to hand him a ruined economy? Then he had his head buried in the sand.

There were many informed and learned folks that tried to get others to listen to them in re the improprieties and illegalities that would lead, and have led, to a serious downturn. Most everyone in a position to effect meaningful directional change ignored them - including our last and our current Presidents.
