footpetnorth -> Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 11:44:01 AM)

Would it be bad-mannered of a subie/slave or will he be trying to top from the bottom if he expects a reply? If he's properly reading someone's profile invest his time and honest intentions and sends a message with his best ability, don’t he deserve a reply at least! Or maybe it’s too much to ask?
Is it not the fact that if not all than at least most of the domms here are also looking for subs/slaves! and no matter you are sub or dom, you create your own chances and get what you deserve?

Yes, it is too much to expect.

subtlebutterfly -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 11:51:15 AM)

ok let me think...your picture makes me wanna go all eww... apart from that how about reading the other 100 posts jussssssst below yours which are about the exact same thing.
Yes it's too much. It's the internet, there's no such thing as expecting for an answer, but it might be NICE to get an answer.

FullfigRIMAAM1 -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 11:51:59 AM)

My belief is that if someone reads a profile, and writes politely and in a way relevant to the profile, that he ought to receive a reply as a matter of common courtesy...   But many common things apparently aren't all that common.
Besides that, you must be approaching people who are incompatible or unavailable, if you are continually running into this issue.

P.S.   It could also be your picture causing that reaction.  [:@]  M

monywildcat -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 11:57:13 AM)

I agree with subtlebutterfly here, maybe if you changed your pic to one that does not make you look like you are masturbating for the camera, that may be a start.  And while I don't really see expecting a response to be topping from the bottom, having such an unrealistic expectation is just setting you up for some real disappointment.

CatdeMedici -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 11:59:04 AM)

Maybe a profile that says," Worthless piggy" might just be a show stopper--food for thought.

Lockit -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 12:00:47 PM)

I am typically dressed when I email people...  D/s isn't all about sex for me and a naked man tends to make me think he is all about the sex... therefore why email him back if he isn't getting sex from me?  Dressed and respectful men in email, get responses.. unless they get lost in the shuffle or haven't read my profile and gone by it.

STONE1944 -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 12:00:56 PM)

'tis truly the breed these days...  be it Master/Dom/Man or Domme/sub/slave...  and, yes, there are many posted and responses can well be time consuming- even with the pre-canned thoughtless availability...  one is "expected" to put thought into responding to a Profile listing- but seldom is one given the return benefit even of a "go xxxx off" response...  Holier That Thou prevails- until the need overpowers [:@]

Isn't there another thread on this exact same topic in Collarme right now?

Oh jeez.  You made me look.  Yeah, footpetnorth, I don't see you capturing any woman's attention with that pic and profile, unless she is currently in Nigeria on a temporary modeling assignment... or has a Yahoo addy in her profile that reads like mecumspankunow6969.

For real and not kidding.  Make the first two lines of your profile: what's your favorite type of ice cream, and why; and what is the cutest thing you have seen an animal do in the last six months.

Isn't there always?

OP: I went around this particular mulberry bush recently. Fact is (according to my searches, and poll postings), as many people out there consider receiving a "thanks, but no thanks" to be a needless time-waster, as consider not receiving a response to be rude. Numerically, at a ratio of something like 2 to 4:1, depending on how you phrase the question, not responding to an unwanted mail is accepted behavior.

CM has a nice feature: by viewing your Sent Messages, you can tell if they were read. If they are, and you have no response, move along. At the speed the Internet works, and considering how many out there are too impolite to take a simple "no" as an answer, simply assume no reply is a replay, and move along. The Internet is not face to face, paper mail, or a phone conversation. Accept its conventions, or prepare to get bitter about it.

<<<< is sending all her K9 emails to Red! hehe

LaTigresse -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 12:19:42 PM)

Yeah, I was just trying to think through all my cute animal stories of the last six months.

Right now it's Sophie trying to carry a long wrapping paper tube through a doorway that was more narrow than the tube was long.

yes, it is...
its like walking down the street or being in a public place and saying "hello" to someone walking by us and expecting the same in return. nothing requires people to be courteous in the way we expect...

reality...

hardbodysub -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 12:34:42 PM)

You shouldn't ever expect anything. You can only hope for the best, and be prepared for the worst. You'll usually get something in between, but I wouldn't expect it.

One exception: expect to get severely flamed if you criticize the wrong people the wrong way.

SwimGoldfishSwim -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 1:06:04 PM)

Though it is courteous in some parts, i wouldn't expect it. It's the internet, people talk in acronyms now, manners aren't necessary since you are a stranger to them.

and follow hardbodysubs advice, some posts turn ugly after the wrong thing is said to the wrong person.

strangedesire -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 1:20:40 PM)

You can expect all you want.  It doesn't mean that you'll get one.

That said, I personally have accumulated 35 pages of emails in the last month and a half, not including all the ones I deleted from men that are geographically distant, too old, or somehow completely uninteresting.  Dominant women get a lot of email, and if a week or so passes, a polite "I don't want to pester you if you're uninterested, but I'm still very interested in you because of X and Y" can go a long way with me.

And the posters here have some good advice about your profile.  If you tell women that you're worthless, don't be surprised when they treat you as such.

KatyLied -> RE: Is it too much to expect a reply? (2/16/2009 1:21:47 PM)

no reply = not interested

Yeah, but you're young and look hot posing with a cane, and you're intelligent and nice and stuff.  I bet you even stroke the guy's hair and lips tenderly and sweetly, just before blistering a dozen new furrows on his exposed behind.
