If you serious interact with a person, Dom or sub, you will change and so will they; that is the entire purpose of human interactions. The fundamental psychology that shapes us is well established by around age ten, so while you can help your partner improve, grow, and discover, you are not going to change the way they are wired fundamentally. So, unless you can pretty much accept the person they way that they are you are not going to be compatible long-term. If you can find somebody who is 85% of your ideal, you can help them change another 5-10% but you are stuck with the last bit. 95% ain't bad.
