I asked Sir about the begging question and, among other things, his response included a statement regarding him seeing me beg with my eyes and my body.  Because I am primarily non-verbal in playspace, it seems this comes out in my body language.  I guess I haven't been all that aware of it before, but after his comments I realized that is what I do.  I've really enjoyed reading this thread.  Thank you.

I have to admit I always liked to hear the people that I played with beg.  However, I only really liked when I could tell it was real and not just something they were doing because they knew I wanted them to or because they were acting.  And I could see how it could get very annoying if done in a whinning manner.  And I agree with what Nueva Vida said.  That it matters what it is for and to how it is done.  That just my two cents.

Rope,

Of course it is only the genuine that counts for anything  and Nvida is normally right on the money.

For me begging is a very negative thing and when I first read the thread, my first response was 'there is no blippin' way I will ever beg again'.  I say that though because in the past even though I was required to beg, it really didn't matter.  I guess I needed it to matter.  As a result, begging is now a hard limit and I simply will not do it.

angelic,

a hard limit? Might be better to save that criteria for something that might be more important........... just a thought. thanks for your input.

CP

If that's something that's linked to a negative/traumatic past experience for her (which is what it sounds like to me), it might really be that important. Anyway, limits are a very individual thing and it's her right to decide what is or isn't a limit for her.

grace,

a simple comment on my part does not a direction for her make; anymore than your observation might or might not be true.

CP, it was your comment that this isn't important that we look askance at. Obviously it is important to her or she wouldn't have limited it.

The way you worded it makes it seem as though you are setting yourself up as arbiter of what is important. And as you well know, people are strange creatures and what is of vast importance to one is of no importance to the next.

I had dinner with a couple of friends of tonight and I asked CP's questions to my friends as the subjects of our conversation varied from one thing to another     This very statement came up as we were discussing.   One of my friends that I've known for over 15 years told me that I was one of those people that "spoke" more with my eyes and my body language than anyone she had ever known.   She went on to say that she thought the eyes and body could do just as much "begging" as any verbal response.   I think you both are on to something.

Thank you Kallisto! I feel kinda weird with the verbal stuff.  Especially when it's cued.  But I just can't control my body like I can my mouth.  You too?

Des,

Spoken like a true consigliere!

I do not recall giving up my right to an opinion simply because I started a thread!

I never have a problem talking   But after talking about this with friends last night and thinking about it today, I do think my eyes and my body speaks "louder" at times than what comes out of my mouth.  Sometimes may be more of an automatic response without the mind and the mouth having to get in sync.

My opinion is, I don't beg, I'm not a dog. If you want begging get a dog.

It seems that this activity/requirement is being employed more and more by both side of the slash.
i do not refer to the rollplay type of begging but the sincere function of begging by the "s" to her/his "D" or "M".
For some on the "s" side it is a nice enhancement to their need humiliation, while others accept it as a desire on the part of their "D" or "M".

What is your take on it regardless of which side of the slash your on?

I see begging as nothing more than a sub/slave respectfully asking for something where as were we together as equalls the asking would be a request.. For me it is just how someone identifies as.

Master and Mistress expect it in that same kind of way Iron Bear, Sir,

For me, though begging is an incredibly difficult thing to do.  When I was younger there was some serious abuse coupled with asking for anything. So just asking is a hard thing for me to do.  Master and Mistress require me to ask for what I want.  *sigh*  Well, at my request, I now ask for everything.  May I get online for a few minutes?  May I make a phone call?  May I go to the bathroom/get a glass of water/sit down?  It makes asking for little things that I don't really care about easy.  But asking for something I want - like a hug or time alone or to be used... I end up sobbing.  Imagine sobbing just to get a hug.  It is a place of great vulnerability which has been betrayed many times in the past.  The mere act pulls the deepest fears out of me.
Ditto what Sunshine said.

It is for similar reasons I do not do "choices", and especially not in play.

I think the not asking for/begging for things might tie into the lack of value I place in myself.  Whilst being choked, I was told to ask to breathe, should be a no brainer, but, I can't/couldn't, my head said I just didn't deserve it.  So much for improving my value of myself on a belief level :P

How can you ask/say anything while being choked, anyway? We did a little bit of choking and breath play in my last relationship, but I had to tap out with my hand, rather than use a verbal cue, when it was too much.

Actually, I misstated. Being born with a penis doesn't forfeit your right to have an opinion. It just guarantees that your opinion will always be wrong.

And here I thought that being born with a cock insured your opinion was always right.

Choked/strangled with a scarf/pashmena whist out and about.  Yes, you can't talk when your mouth is covered, but, when it isn't, and all you're experiencing is not-enough air... you can talk, just, sort of.

I like sincere begging.  I don't enjoy roleplay begging.    If I am playacting with someone, if they beg it had better be because in the role of x, they are begging sincerely for y.
