No really. I have absolutely no experience in bdsm, except what I've managed to do by myself, but I am blisteringly curious about everything to do with it. My name is Kira, and I definitely identify as a sub - and if I may, I'm going to digress for just a moment...

What is the general ettiquette concerning the capitalization of names and pronouns in relation to Dom/sub status. I'm a grammar nazi in general, so the whole not capitalizing kinda bothers me, but I was just in a chatroom and told that my nickname, Sfortzando, should be written sfortzando since I identify as a sub. Does this also pertain to given names? I've also seen some subs write 'i' instead of 'I', or speak in the third person i.e 'this girl...'. Some enlightenment would be very helpfull.

Aaaanyway, I'm looking for anything from just friends to a Mistress to teach me to a Domme with whome I could fall in love with. I'm really just going with the flow and enjoying the whole process of rediscovering myself.

Hello Kira, and welcome to CollarMe.

In the CollarMe message boards the general preferance for "proper" spelling, etc. seems to be that what you learned in school is what is proper here.   Chat rooms, especially private chat rooms, often have their own rules about capitalization and such but here it seems that most of the people just want to be able to read the messages without having to go through a cypher program to figure out what is being said.  There are a few here that follow other rules, but often those are rules that are given to a sub by their dominant.  So just use every day, good 'ol English grammer and punctuation and all will be well.

Welcome.

I never bought into the fetish of capitalization.  And "this girl" sounds artificial to me.

That's good to hear, and kinda what I had assumed. Not capitalizing certain words, especially 'I', would probably drive me crazy!

The third person self reference would be okay in scene, or if my Domme specifically ordered me to, but in general, I agree.
