I suggest the Urban Iditarod experience.

"In the Alaskan Iditarod, more than sixty dog sled teams race across the frozen tundra from Anchorage to Nome. In our urban version, teams of  "dogs" lead by a musher will pull their sleds (shopping carts) through some of San Francisco's most touristed areas. These teams of barking humans must negotiate through the unrelenting and unforgiving dangers of San Francisco's urban frontier. As an incentive to run, dogs and mushers alike will have several "rest stops" to replenish lost fluids and discuss tales of mayhem. The course is over three miles, so dogs and mushers alike need to be ready and able to run their tails off."

Of course technology really does trickle down, so this might be very good news. A lot of people would accept less performance for less dollars, like to get to work and stuff.

Shelby intends to offer a number of versions of AESP powertrain, "from 200 horsepower for economy and midsize cars," on up.

I hate to say it, but this smells like a scam.  The performance being quoted is waaay better than any of the electric exotics I've seen and there are key pieces of information missing- like what's the weight of the car?  Because if you know the weight and the hp (which should really be given in watts and basically they're talking about 750 kW) you can figure out what the zero to 60 times are based on power/weight ratios.  The Bugatti Veyron has 1000 hp, weighs 4470 lbs, and R + T gives the 0 to 60 time at 2.6 sec.  Now, if you push a lithium pack hard, you might be able to get about 1 kw out of 2 lbs of battery- and you're going to be replacing the pack in pretty short order.  That's 1500 lbs of battery to get 750 kW (instantaneous power).  And by the way- if you run that hard, your battery is empty in less than 10 minutes.  Total battery size- let's say that it has to have a capacity of 150 kilowatt hours (storage).  (The power calculation was take the capacity of the battery by 5x or so.) Well, if you can charge at 220V, how many amps does that take in an hour?  That's about 1500 amps.  (wattage is volts x amps- and remember we're in kilowatts, i.e. 750 kW is 750,000 watts).  I think most houses are typically rated for a few hundred amps at best.  But wait-they said charge in 10 minutes.  Multiply by 6- now we're up at 9000 amps.  Something doesn't smell right here.....

I think somebody's capitalizing on the same last name.  The Shelby associated for decades with cars ranging from the AC Cobra to the Mustang to the Dodge Omni GLH (which was a fast little car) is Carroll Shelby- this guy is Mark Shelby.
