I found this on another sight, but thought it might be something everyone here might want to post in their profile:

Why?  It's an utterly meaningless statement.

Phew ! I thought this was going to be another topic that would lead to guns.

But as to the OP, the web is covered in statements like that, images hold copyrights, actually written on the images, but it doesn't stop people taking stuff. Just face facts, once it is on the net, it is in the public domain and there open to use.

Furthermore, you have to ask yourself, what are you actually going to do if you do find your stuff has been purloined, do you have the funds or the wherewithall to pursue a person, do you need the hassle ? If you don't want your stuff used elsewhere, don't post it on the net.

I've seen people put this statement up on a lot of different social websites.  It's is meaningless.  It isn't a legal document, and it wouldn't hold water in court.  Besides, I'm not real worried about institutions using my photos for a study or project.  For fucks sake, people are too damn paranoid.  Newsflash, you are not that important.

Exactly!

I've had photos and words copied and used all over the freakin net. Why get my panties in a wad? There is only one me (at least I hope so....)[:D] and anyone that bothers to actually meet me, will soon figure out the reality.
