Yes, I am ashamed, yes I should be punished! I have watched, with deliberate intention on more than a couple of occasions, the "Housewives of [where-ever]" shows. ~Sob!~ I know! I can't believe I am admitting this. As you're reading this I can actually sense your heads slowly, sadly shaking in disappointment. OMG I suck...

Having said that, admitted my flaw, felt deep regret, anyone else watch? Can you believe those bitches?

They are horribly entertaining - after a bit, I get sick as a parrot watching them, maybe because it's such addicting viewing. The Orange chicks are the worst. The NYC, I identify with, probably because they each own a passport.

"Sick as a parrot"--hilarious!

See, that's part of why I wanted to discuss them. They're not even funny. They're not insightful, they seem not to have any redeeming wisdom even for their years. They're just mean. :(

With the changes of the world, are they completely irrelevant?

Are they caricatures?
[Edited for spelling like a rich, ridiculous TV housewife...or a toddler.]

They are caricatures; they have no inner lives. They live for appearances, and they're obsessed with money and status. They're cardboard cutouts of women, except they speak. They make me think of this. They have no sense of style.

What I hate the most about them is their disgusting 'female competitive' spirit with the looks thing: the Californian chicks are the most versed in this, from what I've seen. The NYC women seem much more together.

I found myself feeling sad, which may sound weird, but I had read a news story about a woman here who lost much in the floods and is now having to fight to get help that has been allocated and promised because she made overtime helping with the recovery. Good god.

There are lots of stories like that here. With the economy sucking as it so sucks right now, people hurt, have experiences they never could have imagined they would be subjected to.

Then I watched the show and the women were arguing about who got to buy the pink hat to wear to the horse races.

I think I understand... our culture is fucked.

Mmmm an off switch.   Click

I know, tee hee, I can turn it off anytime...

I felt like I wanted to talk to them:

Why don't you come and look at MY house, I'd say, let's go hang out in the basement, wanna? Take a gander at my dwindling paycheck that I'm hugely grateful for. Look at the families forced to try to sell their flood-damaged homes in a terrible real estate scenario...

and don't wear a pink-fucking hat. I might say that too.

But I also might say, "let's figure out how you could be cool with your money--something you'd like and the world would like you for doing, and then maybe you won't be such a back-stabbing-materialistic-waste-of-oxygen BIOTCH.

Is this a movie or television programme Tee?

subtee -> RE: Housewives of OC, NY, etc. (1/21/2009 11:14:53 AM)

Oh thank god you don't know...I love you.

LaTigresse -> RE: Housewives of OC, NY, etc. (1/21/2009 11:16:24 AM)

Whewwwww, I was afraid I had missed out on the hippest movie/television programme around!

I do have a few past and present guilty television and movies pleasures though.

rexrgisformidoni -> RE: Housewives of OC, NY, etc. (1/21/2009 12:10:57 PM)

these shows plus my super sweet 16 stoke my class hatred to furious levels.

LaTigresse -> RE: Housewives of OC, NY, etc. (1/21/2009 12:19:03 PM)

That's too bad...

It's kinda like watching Nanny 911 ... I always feel like the best parent in the world after seeing how some families live.  After watching Housewives I feel so morally superior and good about myself - I think that may be the true secret to these shows!  They make us feel good about our ourselves in a really 'f-ed' up way!  [;)]

~Fast Reply~

I'm addicted to the wedding shows. "Bridezilla", "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?", etc. The only I can't stand is "Platinum Weddings". Granted, if I had that much money I might buy that stuff too but it just makes me go... "DEAR LORD! YOU DON'T NEED A MILLION DOLLARS FOR YOUR WEDDING BUDGET!"

BbwCanaDomme -> RE: Housewives of OC, NY, etc. (1/21/2009 3:26:49 PM)

I just have to say, a lot of the girls on these shows are actually sort of broke. Apparently two of the women on the Atlanta show are being evicted haha

Reality tv is not real.

Lockit -> RE: Housewives of OC, NY, etc. (1/21/2009 5:19:19 PM)

I was at a party in Newport beach when a motorcross big wig started talking to me.  After a while he says... you don't know who I am do you?  No, should I?  He laughed and told me who he was.  He hung with me until I had to get out of there... I can't stand OC high society!  I followed his career a bit, I loved motorcross and racing... but because I liked what he had to say... he was sick of the hot, high society women who chased him down and when he married I was really happy for him because he had found a great woman.

I've sat with the husbands... most married while in college and couldn't afford to divorce they felt because they knew they would lose just about everything.

When those women break loose... they show their fake boobs that hubby bought, drunk off their ass and when hubby leave's before they get the boobs, they often require that he pay for them in the divorce settlement... the wive's say... they are working on the next husband.  I can't believe the stupid things they say and do.  I see money... but no class whatsoever. I find them disgusting.  Yet... how smart can these men really be... if that is what they marry? And their um's...omg!

I watch once in a while just so I can see a bit of home... that I miss... the people... ukkk!

I've wondered the same about "bridezillas".  Why oh why doesn't the man run for the hills?

GreedyTop -> RE: Housewives of OC, NY, etc. (1/21/2009 6:57:01 PM)

*grateful I havent turned into a Bridezilla*

(yet)
