This might be a stupid question, but what is the best way to fly with gear. I need to take ballgags, cuffs and ropes. I am pretty sure I can't carry it on the plane or can I ? I don't fly that often!

Actually, the smartest way to handle this is to ship the stuff in advance...Have it wrapped, taped shut, take it to a UPS store or a similar shipping service,have them box it up, ship it to your destination..You can have them hold it there for pick up by you upon your arrival. And this eliminates the hassle with TSA and/or the carrier you are traveling on.

I put it in My checked baggage and don't lock it--never had any problems.

Agreed... check it or ship it ahead, but don't expect to be able to carry it onboard yourself. Cali

I put toys in checked baggage and typically wrap them in saran wrap as the idea of some stranger touching my toys grosses me out. I have even considered vacuum sealing toys when I travel but then I'd have to take the vacuum sealer along for the return trip, lol! :> Davan

You can put them in ziplock bags with a card that reads sex toys. But cuffs are more likely to show up on the xray and get the bag opened. Rope and ballgags being nonmetal may not even set anything off.

I am not willing to lose the leather cuffs... I just wear `em...no problemo... Anything I check...I just plan on losing... Some items just have to be... shipped...

There have been lots of threads on this previously, use the search function for more detailed responses and arguments about the best way. Personally, I've flown with toys dozens of times over the years and have never had an issue as long as you check the baggage. Shipping ahead is also a smart, but more expensive option. Most airlines, if they actually lose your bags and not just "misplace" them where you get them back later, will replace the contents so actually losing things for real is rare. Unless it's irreplaceable and you don't want to chance it. Have fun, wherever you're going :)

We had an amusing conversation about this issue at the last Dominant's Roundtable meeting. LOL Just check them in before you get on. If somebody robs your bags, they'll probably take your cologne and electronics before they go for the used sex toys that they are not sure where they have been.... [sm=hellno.gif]

I dunno about ropes, gags, etc, but I've taken fetish boots and a vibrator in my carry-on and had no problem whatsoever.

I travel including overseas. I keep it light and have had no problem with a light collar and leash. My forte is improvising. You can make toys and instruments out of almost anything as simple or complex as you wish. Who needs a fancy flogger when a spatula will do? And you wouldn't believe some of the things I've made vibrators out of. Except for cuffs, you can buy almost anything cheaply at your destination from K-Mart, Home Depot, or a pet store. Don't let lack of imagination be a setback.

I used to catch people going through luggage all the time, and this was long before you had the sticky fingers of the TSA also going through every piece of luggage on the plane. Never put anything into checked baggage that you're not prepared to lose. Shipping your stuff ahead via FedEx/UPS/whoever is a cheap, smart way of ensuring that your expensive toys and belongings don't go on walkabout before you get to your destination. ~stef

But you also have to right to sue for anything that has been stolen out your bags. The only reason airline companies have all these statements trying to convince you that you can't sue them for lost items is because you DO have the right to sue them. They are trying to minimize their losses. So many people have bought into this that it has created a culture of theft amongst baggage check. But if they steal your belongings out your bag, say it was the most expensive brand items of that kind that you can think of. Don't just say it was a cheap flogger, say it was an iced-out flogger made from camel hide. Bling Bling LOL

Flying interstate here in Aussie, I will pack my toys in my suitcase and lock it, anything too heavy like medieval arms and armour is shipped in advance.

Actually, i am not sure why people aren't locking their luggage? My parents fly to Jamaica 4 times a year (i.e., international with customs involved) as fly home to Chicago and to Vegas many times a year, they have 1 airline locks and 4 non airline lock on their luggage. All they do is when they check their luggage they wait to make sure there are no problems where the airline wants to open it when it goes through the scanners. I also do this when i travel and my lock isn't the airline one. Otherwise, they stay locked. They have never had the locks cut off for any reason by the airlines and i think 3 times since they implemented the stricter flying rules they were asked to open them. Hell my dad also puts this complicated belt like rigging around the cases and believe me it ain't easy to duplicate and its never been messed with. So i really am not sure why people aren't locking their luggage. angel

I'm guessing people think if it's an airline approved lock the airline will open their bags anyway so what's the point. To the OP, I've checked my bags - toys placed in ziplock bags with (as Celeste suggested) a card that says "sex toys." My former owner had a flogger stolen once (a really nice one, too) but otherwise, no issues. I've had dildos in my carry-on before and was not asked about them during the scanning process. My guess is it was pretty obvious what they were.

That is only if they want or have to to open your luggage and you aren't there to open it. Its not just a random hey this isn't airline approved - snip, that i know of. If you are there and they need your luggage opened, you can unlock it for them and they are fine. And the only time they would open it is at check in you can watch them go through the scanner and put it on the belt to go to the plane, or in extreme emergencies. They don't randomly spot check luggage or say hey lets see what's in here after that that i know of (they may do with unlocked luggage). My parents fly all the time with only 1 approved lock and they have never had their other ones cut off. I will have to check next time i go but i thought it was only if they had to open it and you weren't there to do so that they would cut it off. I mean they usually like the owns of the bags to be present when they are searched due to if they find something they have the owner right there -- yes? I was just at US Air both in Nashville, Charlotte, and Jamaica, and i saw no such signs. I guess it makes me squeemy lol to think people wouldn't lock their luggage, to me that's like not locking your car door at the mall.

During clip's last trip here (not his current one) the x-ray machine was down at the boarding area. All carry on bags were being opened and checked. The security guy opened clip's bag, saw the flogger, and immediately closed it. The way clip tells it, he was the person who got through the quickest.
