cubletMS -> pubic hair removal by electrolysis (1/12/2009 9:17:50 AM)

Is there A/anyone out there who has any first hand experience with permanent removal of pubic hair by electrolysis? Or just any general info about it?
Cheers

No experience... but hopefully it works better than laser? [>:]

I had laser hair removal in that area, and I haven't had a treatment in about 3 years. I have about 20 hairs that grow back on the upper area (the lips area hasn't grown back), but they're very fine and blonde now.  I can pluck those by myself. I had about 12 treatments in all, and it really hurt even with numbing cream - but it was worth it in my opinion. I think the best candidates have dark hair and light skin because the laser targets the darker color. I couldn't even have self tanner on when I went in to get lasered, and definitely no tanning bed.
I've heard that electrolysis is the only way to make the hair go away forever, but the process is more time consuming and painful. I had one electrolysis visit, and then decided to go with laser. Hope that helps a little :)

Thankyou so much goodgirlC. So- when you went for the one session of electrolysis was it noticably more painful than the laser treatment? And more or less painful than a tattoo (if you have any)? Can you tell i'm not a painslut?? tee hee. Also- i am very pale skinned (so definitely no tanning bed for me! i would just burn lol.) but probably light brown to blonde hair- so maybe laser wouldn't be good anyway? Does laser ever go wrong? Sorry to be a pain but i am so interested in getting rid of the hair as permanently as i can.

I had electrolysis about 10 years ago - so it's possible that they've changed the way they do it - but - when I had it done, they insert a very thin needle-like thing into a hair follicle, and hold it there for about 8 seconds to burn the root of the hair. 8 seconds was a long time on one hair, if you think about all the hair follicles. With laser, it's like half a second, and they move onto the next hair quickly - it makes a beep noise - So it's like beep, beep, beep, beep - fairly fast, instead of insert needly thing - beep for 8 long seconds of pain. It's quick pain with laser, like a rubber band snap over and over.
Having very fair skin is really good, and if the hair down there isn't blonde, blonde, it should work well. The hair just needs to have a lot more pigment than your skin so the laser will target the hair. You can schedule an appointment with the laser center, and they should be able to tell you what results you should expect with your hair and skin type.
I didn't have any problems, but with just about everything that's a cosmetic procedure with a laser involved, they'll have a list of risks that might happen like burning or scarring. At the office I had my procedures, all the people doing the treatments were nurses, and they were supervised by a doctor.
If you have anymore questions that you don't want to post, or if you ask something here and I haven't answered in a while - just send me a message if you'd like. :)

I had laser there too, and have been pleased with the results.  I couldn't bear more than 3 treatments on the lips, but I'm sure I would have had the same good results there.  on the bikini I had only 6 treatments as well, and the few little hairs left there aren't any trouble at all, just a quick zip! with a wax strip and they are all gone.
I do have very dark, coarse hair, so that may have contributed to the success.

i had electrolysis done on my face 20 years ago. It hurt. I haven't had the laser done. I should investigate that though.

I don't know which one has better results. I am curious about the cost though..

Damn I read the title wrong...

It wasn't public hair removal was it....

I seem to have a voyeristic(sp) side.

the cost varies greatly between dr.s offices and the more "spa" like places that offer laser services.  I did have laser treatments on spots on my face and underams.  I have been very pleased with those results as well.  I did go the dr. office route so consequently paid through the nose (no pun intended).

I better inspect the work quality for you. I think it's the least I could do.

Bah! I am only 4 treatments in.. and no results yet. [>:]

The dr is all "OoooOoo! You can really tell the difference!!" Where? My wallet? Yes, thanks it's much smaller now.
