IS the world economy disaster actually effecting the types of slaves that I am encountering. I seem to be finding more slaves that are out work or need housing (eminately sp?).

Has any one else noticed this in the last month or so?

I can't comment about the USA, but from all the reports I do get, this applies to as many Dominantly types too..

I am seeing it.  It's not looking pretty and all, but you have to be careful.  Some who are in trouble period in life are using this economic situation to their advantage and claiming it is the reason they are in a situation.  I did my homework and did background searches.  That told me all I needed to know.  It wasn't exactly the economic situation in two cases I was made aware of.

This applies to everyone..not just doms, subs, slaves, tops, etc...there are LOTS of people out of work and losing their homes. It's just part of what's going on in this global crisis right now. Everyone is hurting from this.

Aye you are correct there. It will get worse before it gets better.. 'Tis a pity that so many international economies are either tied to or riding on the back of the US Green Back.

and it's happening all around the globe. I live in Argentina, and things don't look well here either (please, spare the joke that things here have never looked good [8D], what I mean is that they look worse than before the crisis). Yet, as many have said, I do not think it has anything to do with the D/s status...

Let's hope things get right ASAP.

Didn't something like this happen back in the 70s?
We all came out of that one. Why should this time be any different?

Not really sure why you all are so concerned. Many here in CM are rather proficient at knowing who is real to the lifestyle and who is just playing.

I remember the 70's situation.  Where I was in Calif. at that time, you found every other business 'out' of business.  We did come out of it.. but this is larger...

Let us all hope its nothing like the depression, only thing that brought the world out of that was a world war.

An interesting point considering how bad things are getting, quite possibly they might get worst, I hope that they don't.
Think about it for a moment, just a moment.
Placing dominance to the side.
If you had no one to turn to and your only option was either the street, which some might not survive or to be in a situation where you would be caring for someone else within a secure environment, where you would survive. Which would you choose?
Another interesting issue to take into consideration, if things get bad, I mean really bad, and you had to go, would you rather be with someone else when you do or would you rather be alone?

Survival is strong motivator to being a submissive and/ or slave. No matter what is expected of the individual that surrenders to a dominants will.

I did live that.  When I got real sick and lost my career to some strange and unknown illness no one could help me with... I had three um's to care for.  Lost home, car's, everything I could sell, even my clothes which were very nice.  Anything I could make a buck on.  Then it got worse and worse.  I used to ride the bus and look for places I could safely take my family because shelters were hard to get into and short term.  I had no help whatsoever.

Of course most would want to be somewhere safe, but you know... there are some who will take advantage of people and will abuse them so that they have a roof over their head.  I know this too.  I had to make that choice once.  My choice was... the street.  I would rather be independent and not be abused and homeless... really homeless than to be harmed by someone's use.  I made my choice... paced the floor for days.. then to the cold winter outside...  I finally called a friend and he encouraged me and two friends gave me enough to eat for two days and a name to call.  In one day I was saved by a program that was able to get me in with no wait.  I would be there today if my son hadn't been brain damaged.  Housing, low cost for the ill or elderly.

I also ran a shelter and I know the in's and out's of this.  I have taken more people into my home than I can count at the moment.  I have been there... all sides of it.  Sometimes the easy way is the hardest way of all.

Thank you... if I can do it.. so can others.  The thing is... you can't lose your soul in it... or there is nothing left.  I think I fought just to make sure that didn't happen and because I am stubborn bitch!  But I was terrified most of the time.  Terror can be a great motivator! lol

what's saddest about your very heart wrenching story is the reality that at this point we really have no idea how much worse it could get.

Thank you... I didn't mean to jack the thread... but I wanted to encourage Aszhare.  Life isn't always what comes easy, but in the tough stuff... we find out what we are truely made of and that things really aren't that bad if we get out there and do it... whatever it takes.  Waiting for doom to fall is the worst part of it.
